Chapter 160 - Post School Briefing

Chapter 160 – Post School Briefing

"Ah, so that\'s the case, I see," Morris nodded his head several times.

Del told him everything that happened in the school and his investigation. Anna also added some extra details that she knew, including the investigation on Adam. He also smiled when Del used Mira\'s past to intimidate her.

He only commented, "You just used a nuclear bomb to kill a squirrel, don\'t you know that?"

Del just sighed. He knew he just spoke the secret that Mira would keep very deep inside of her own Pandora box. There were many more secrets, but 1942 would make her shudder. Well, as long as it put Mira under his leash, Del would be happy to manipulate it.

Both of them were mercenaries. He would be glad to use her if it became necessary, especially if he wanted to do something that he was not supposed to be doing. The fate between life and death for Mira was in his hand. She would have no way to refuse his request. What a sinister and sick plan, wasn\'t it?

Wait, that meant that Anna and her could work together in investigating our suspect with Anna keeping her in the dark about what they were searching for. Del felt sinister thinking about that, but he couldn\'t help but to put a manipulative smile on his face.

To be honest, it was rather a slight convenience on his part. Mira wasn\'t exactly the best mercenary around, but Del was sure that a former militant would have a decent military experience. The potential was kinda endless for him. Poor Mira.

"Still, Del, I don\'t think Mira is the person you\'re looking for. You scare her so much into submission, I don\'t think she would pose a threat to you. Still, she\'s a reasonable good ally, we can use her fear," Morris suggested.

"What are you suggesting, Morris?" Del asked.

"We scare her outside of public place. You know, handing her some documents about her secret, making her delve deeper into her fear of being executed," Morris said.

"You\'re sick, Morris," Anna sipped on her coffee, "But I approve it. Mira is one of the feared students outside of the combat program. Keeping her on our side should prove to be advantageous." And she continued sipping on her coffee.

"I\'ll tell the boss about your plan, later. Anything else that I should know?"

"Bosch. We still need to progress. Any plan? Besides bombing him in secret," Del asked.

"I like what you are thinking, Del. However, I want to know, what are you thinking right now?"

What Del was thinking? Well, nothing. To be precise, so far, anything that had happened had been rather out of his expectation in both good ways and bad ways. In good ways because the intelligence agencies were in his side and in bad ways since everything became way more complicated than it should have been.

There was a nuke in Ilbistirum, one of his friends was his enemy, and this slaver which happened to be a human-right activist must be eradicated as well. It couldn\'t get any messier, right? As far as Del knew, it would get messier.

Morris interrupted the silence, "About Bosch, we have an update that just came when you two were still in school."

Morris opened his tablet and showed it on the table. The tablet displayed a picture. Three trucks were moving through a straight road. What was very fancy about this picture? There was nothing odd, to be honest. Further more, it was a military truck owned by the federal military with crates filling it.

And Del wouldn\'t even think about hitting a military convoy from the federal military. It would bring too much unneccessary heat to him. If this convoy was somehow connected to Bosch, they would need a plan to take it down.

"Military transport trucks, anything special about these trucks?" Del asked.

"These trucks are carrying small arms munition to this town," Morris said.

"So… what?" Del asked. "Wouldn\'t the military in this town need reinforcement as well?"

"Well, I meant, it\'s logical. As far as we are concerned, there are no scheduled shipment heading for this town. This is something out of the ordinary and Mikhail wants us all to investigate it."

"Remind me again, who\'s Mikhail?" Del asked.

"Director of Internal Security. What? You don\'t remember him?"

"No, I just want to make sure," Del lied.

If even the director of internal security wanted them to investigate it, this shipment might be very serious. Serious in a way that it might be a threat to national security. Or it was just him overreacting about the current situation.

Still, weapon shipment was a weapon shipment. Del wouldn\'t want an more threat to his town. Even Bosch alone was enough, a weapon upgrade for the criminals would surely create a new threat and weaken the local law reinforcement force.

"Ok, a weapon shipment. It\'s clearly interesting, but what should we do with these trucks?"

"We want your help to take them down. Considering how you two have prove yourself over time, we might need your expertise on this one," Morris said.

"Sure, what can we do for you?" Del asked.

"Great, I know I can count on you. Alright, here\'s the deal. You will be accompanies by four people from our side. Don\'t worry, they will probably carry the whole operation, You\'re just there to support them."

"Anything else that I should know?" Del asked.

"Yeah. We will also give you full air support so don\'t worry about it. We\'ll carry jamming pods on our aircraft as well so you don\'t have to worry about incoming reinforcement," Morris reassured him.

"Does it include an airstrike?" Del asked.

"Yup."

"But we are under pressure not to shoot at the trucks. We were only allowed to stop it, kill the soldiers, inspect the cargo, and decide the next course of action whether to destroy it or to keep it," Morris said.

"I see."

"Mission details?" Anna asked.

"This shipment would probably enter our region in Sunday which meant two days from now. I want you two to listen carefully. Alright?"

Del and Anna nodded.

Morris explained the possibility of the threat and the cargo that the military trucks might be carrying. He explained that they would probably need to wear their MOP suit back since the cargo could be another dangerous substance.

He said that there might be a possibility that the cargo contained a chemical agent that could easily kill them if they weren\'t careful. Del agreed with that statement. This convoy could be carrying a bomb as far as Del was concerned.

If the bomb was a chemical one that was rigged to explode once tampered with, Del wouldn\'t have any idea on how dangerous it could be. It could burn his skin, it could be a biological weapon, it could be anything and he wouldn\'t know better.

Morris also mentioned that the cargo might carry nukes. Now that was the terrifying part for him. He said that demon and vampires weren\'t affected by radiation in a way that being exposed to radiation wouldn\'t be cancerous for them, but it would still burn their skin. However, Del was still human and radiation would be death sentence for him.

If it was a dirty bomb, it would be enough to kill him just by the radiation alone. The town that he currently resided in would be damaged enough that no one would occupy it anymore and that was not a good thing.

Bottom point was, the cargo was hazardous and must be approached with extreme caution even though it could be a false alarm. The plan would be given by the special force soldiers that would be protecting him during the operation.

"So, this thing is a weapon of mass destruction, most likely?" Del asked.

"Correct. You\'re absolutely correct."

Anna then asked, "What makes you think that the cargo might be carrying a weapon of mass destruction?"

"Simple. If the imperial military is able to instill fears into the federal population. The support for war would secede and we will be open to a peace talk. And no, I don\'t think the peace talk will end up in our favor."

If someone detonated another nuclear, the federal military would think twice before doing any action to Imperial military in fear of being nuked the second time. It would force the military to the negotiating table and the odds were against them.

They might be told to give up some of their territories and some of their weapons. But it would be the start of something much more sinister. Slowly, it would give a breathing room for the imperial military to create more nukes.

That breathing room would also be used by the federal military to make nukes. As a result, a cold war would commence between those two nations and escalating it would result in a nuclear apocalypse between two countries.. It would be messy and it would be not good for the economy.
