Chapter 2137: Await My Return

……

“Do we… just watch them fight?”

The world of immortals.

Qing Yu and the little fox were curled up in Lu Yun’s arms. The little fox raised her head and planted a kiss on the young man’s cheek.

“They changed from what they should be a long time ago,” Lu Yun nodded. “Like a virus, they broke away from order and grew in a barbaric way according to whatever they wished and wanted. They have gone to all extremes in order to live, so it is only a matter of time before they become a source of trouble if they’re kept around.

“The true seeds of life were never things like them.” A cold light glinted in his eyes as he spoke.

The Saviors were the same as the city lords they abhorred. Many of them had also been overtaken by the will of the nothing. They sought not to revitalize the worlds, but to cleanse the nothing of all existence.

The current battle was inevitable, and no one was wrong.

The city lords were not in the wrong as they simply wished to survive. That was a basic instinct of life.

The Saviors were not in the wrong as they’d been pursuing their ideals and safeguarding their worlds all this time. They’d just been overcome by the will of nothing later on.

Even the will of nothing was not in the wrong as it was just respecting the core essence of nothing and maintaining true nihil.

What was wrong was their perspective. In their eyes, Lu Yun was also wrong.

He’d thrown caution to the wind and created heaven and earth—the worlds—within the nothing. His actions summoned the ancient tomb and would be the doom of them all. He’d extinguished the hope of the nothing and was the greatest evil of all.

And now he sat on a hill, watching tigers fight in the form of the world lords and Saviors. Not only did he not put a stop to the hostilities, but he actually added fuel to the flames from the shadows…

Those actions weren’t very aboveboard.

However, the seeds of immortal dao had been sown. The great dao would be strengthened by their power even if all of them died, so it didn’t matter. Since Lu Yun controlled reincarnation, the Saviors and world lords would enter the cycle of reincarnation upon their deaths. They would reincarnate into new beings and be much more honest and upright for it.

Otherwise, they would stab Lu Yun in the back sooner or later.

Additionally, immortal dao required sacrifices and blood. It needed to be forged in blood.

When human dao manifested immortal dao in the end days of the great wilderness, it’d done so through Daoist Ingress’ never-ending series of slaughters. He’d used the countless daos of great emperors to forge immortal dao.

Immortal dao was drenched in blood.

……

Immortal dao grew rapidly through the course of stunning battle in the nothing. While Lu Yun enjoyed the show, he remained on high alert.

A vast majority of Saviors were under the sway of the will of nothing. With it in control, their goal was more than the cluster of worlds. They were actually targeting the world of immortals. They just hadn’t been able to locate it before because Lu Yun had hid the world of immortals within the nothing.

But with the establishment of immortal dao and Saviors also cultivating it, it was simply a matter of time before they found it.

While powerhouses abounded within the world of immortals, they were weaker than the Saviors. The world would perish once the faction found it. Thus, Lu Yun, Qing Yu, and the little fox remained standing outside of the world, waiting for the enemy to arrive.

The shadow of the ancient tomb was still growing stronger. Once it manifested, the ancient zombie within would step forward to destroy everything within the nothing. The world lords were correct, it was their final stand. Either they wrested victory and survival from the jaws of doom, or they died.

Immortal dao had taken shape and filled the nothing. The ancient zombie would be destroying everything that was immortal dao and erasing everything. Therefore, Lu Yun needed to enter the tomb before the zombie awoke and destroy it—he needed to take control of the will of the nothing.

Only when he controlled the will and used reincarnation to transform it into a living being would he solve the problem at the root.

But right now, he didn’t dare move. If he did, the Saviors would come and destroy the world of immortals. There were far more of them in the nothing than imagined. The group attacking the cluster of worlds was only a small part.

“I thought you’d go help those former city lords,” came a familiar and aloof voice. Motong—someone who should be dead—reappeared in front of Lu Yun.

“As I thought, it’s you.” Lu Yun glanced at her right hand. The hand possessed by the will of the nothing that he’d destroyed was her hand. She hadn’t died, she was the one hidden the deepest within the Saviors.

She seemed weak, but her identity had changed innumerable times. The will of the nothing had initially come from her.

“So you guessed it.” Motong drew her lips up in a blithe, radiant smile. “You seem to be almost at the realm of the subjective affecting the objective.”

Lu Yun nodded. “Yes, but so are you. Are you the second person to reach the pinnacle in the nothing?”

“The subjective affecting the objective? That’s just a dead end,” Motong sighed. “The vast objectivity and unending nothing is the true path. Living beings should resign themselves to the embrace of nothing and everything should return to the core origin of nihil.”

She abruptly attacked while sighing and brought her palm down on Lu Yun. He met her strike head-on.

When they met, the void shook and great daos sounded in unison. Immortal dao dao collided with another great dao in the nihil. They gave rise to endless possibilities and all existences were born and died over and over again.

Qing Yu and the little fox naturally retreated behind their husband. They were impassive as this scene was well within expectations. Although they didn’t participate in the fight, they fully sent their power of reincarnation to Lu Yun.

“I will show you today what subjectivity affecting objectivity looks like!” Motong suddenly shouted and opened her arms, releasing waves of immense energy that swirled with uncanniness.

This part of the nothing was suddenly isolated and everything within it expelled. Only pure nihil remained. Motong was affecting the objective nothing and returning everything within it to its core essence, becoming the purest of nothing.

She sent the blackest of nothing down on Lu Yun with a sudden punch.

“The power of the nothing?” Lu Yun snorted and pushed out with both hands. He used the external circulation of heaven and earth instead of his method to control the nothing.

The external circulation of heaven and earth deployed the power of heaven and earth to affect objectivity. It was markedly different from Motong’s subjective affecting objectivity. Hers used personal will to affect objectivity, whereas Lu Yun’s external circulation used personal will to communicate with heaven and earth and borrow its power to affect objectivity.

In other words, Motong used brute force while Lu Yun borrowed a tool, a lever to influence objectivity.

The two kinds of force collided in the nothing and created a terrifying deep passageway in front of Lu Yun. His eyes widened with dismay, caught off guard by the development. He was uncontrollably pulled into the passage before he could react.

“Lu Yun!!” Qing Yu and the little fox gasped.

“I’m fine!” His voice traveled back to them, followed by a magnificent burst of power that barreled into their bodies. “Protect the world of immortals and protect our future. Await my return!”
