Chapter 227: Giant encounter

He kept thinking about the past incident. "Why do I have to stay in that village without finding my father? What am I supposed to do?"

He clicked his tongue in annoyance, the memory of his humiliating defeat burning fresh in his mind. Guni\'s mocking laughter echoed in his ears, fueling the fire of his anger. He clenched his fists, his nails digging into his palms as he imagined the sweet satisfaction of exacting revenge on both Garnt and his insufferable daughter.

"If I can beat both of them and become the leader of the village...but how can I do that?"

Lost in his thoughts of vengeance, Toga was jolted back to reality by an ear-splitting scream that pierced through the tranquil stillness of the forest. His heart pounded in his chest as he froze in place, his senses on high alert. Without hesitation, he darted behind a colossal boulder, pressing himself against its rough surface as he peered cautiously around the edge.

"No way! That\'s a dinosaur that village people warned me about...should I go back and tell them?"

His eyes widened in disbelief as he beheld a sight straight out of a nightmare. Emerging from the dense foliage ahead was a massive, lumbering dinosaur, its towering form casting a shadow over the surrounding trees. Its roar shook the very ground beneath Toga\'s feet, sending shivers down his spine.

Fear gripped him like a vice as he watched the creature draw nearer, its massive jaws snapping hungrily as it searched for prey. Toga\'s mind raced with panic, his thoughts consumed by the desperate need to escape this monstrous beast.

But even in the face of danger, a flicker of determination ignited within him. One that was fueled by the rage that was boiling inside him.

He couldn\'t allow fear to paralyze him, not when there was a chance to prove himself, to show everyone that he was not to be underestimated.

"If I can bring the head of this creature, not even Guni can deny my skills and I might become respected among the people of the tribe," It was a stupid thought that came to his mind that he started to justify as something intelligent for him to do.

With a steely resolve, Toga took a deep breath, steeling himself for what was to come. Gripping a nearby branch for support, he braced himself to confront the creature head-on. Whatever lay ahead, he was ready to face it, armed with nothing but his dagger and his unyielding determination.

As the dinosaur drew closer, its thunderous footsteps echoing through the forest, Toga squared his shoulders, ready to meet his destiny. This would be his moment to shine, his chance to rise above the shadows of his past and emerge victorious against all odds.

With a defiant glare, he stepped out from behind the safety of the boulder, his heart pounding in rhythm with the primal roar of the approaching beast.

He then had the wild idea of climbing a rock to latch onto the dinosaur and use his dagger to aim at the vital point of this giant.

As Toga silently climbed the rock, his heart raced with adrenaline-fueled anticipation. Every muscle in his body tensed as he waited for the perfect moment to strike.

"It\'s now or never!" With a deep breath, he leapt onto the back of the towering dinosaur, his dagger poised for the fatal blow.

But as his blade met the creature\'s tough scales, he realized with a sinking feeling just how formidable his opponent truly was.

"This is impossible! This toughness! Nobody told me about this," Suddenly he started to feel all of the energy he had in his body starting to vanish.

The dinosaur thrashed wildly beneath him, shaking him off like a mere annoyance. Toga\'s grip faltered, and he tumbled from the creature\'s back, his world spinning as he plummeted toward the forest floor below.

For a moment he felt like it was the end for him, as he truly started to understand the true difference of size and the power between the creature and himself.

From the corner of his eyes, he saw the giant foot of the dinosaur coming in his direction to step on him, and he knew it would not be a painless death if things continued this way, but he was helpless as he had no energy in his body to run away.

Just as he braced himself for the impact that would end his life, a sudden barrage of blasts echoed through the air, piercing the silence of the moment with thunderous reverberations. Toga\'s eyes widened in astonishment as he looked up to see Garnt and several others from the village, their weapons trained on the wounded dinosaur.

Those were no ordinary weapons, rather they had so much firepower in them, so much so that even the tough scales of the dinosaur were not tough enough to endure the firepower.

Without a moment\'s hesitation, they unleashed a volley of projectiles of explosions, each one finding its mark with deadly accuracy. The dinosaur roared in agony as it staggered under the onslaught, blood spilling from its wounds as it finally succumbed to its injuries.

"Phew! These weapons are really great." One of the villagers commented looking at Unami, who was standing next to Garnt. She nodded her head agreeing and looked at Garnt only to see his attention was on Toga.

Toga watched in stunned silence as the creature collapsed to the ground, defeated at last. His mind raced with a tumult of conflicting emotions - relief, gratitude, and a newfound respect for Garnt and his fellow villagers.

But it was just respect for someone more powerful than him. The desire for revenge and the hatred he held was still there inside him boiling him away, but for a moment in the face of death, he had to forget about it.

"Are you alright, Toga?" Garnt\'s voice cut through the chaos, concern etched into his features as he approached Toga\'s side.

Toga nodded, still reeling from the adrenaline rush of the encounter. "I... I\'m fine. Thank you. I... I didn\'t realize...it was this strong."

Garnt laid a reassuring hand on Toga\'s shoulder, his eyes filled with understanding. "We\'re all in this together, Toga. No matter what differences may divide us, when it comes down to it, we\'re all part of the same race. I have the duty of protecting each and every one of you."

Toga swallowed hard, a lump forming in his throat as he nodded in silent agreement. At that moment, surrounded by the camaraderie of his fellow villagers, he realized that perhaps there was more to earning respect than just proving one\'s strength in battle.

"This man! So my father learnt his battle arts and behaviour from him...maybe I have to learn from him to defeat him." Even at this moment, he thought about how to take his revenge, despite being saved by the kindness of Garnt.

As they gathered around the fallen dinosaur, ready to tend to its wounds and salvage what they could, Toga felt a newfound sense of belonging wash over him. And though the road ahead would undoubtedly be fraught with challenges, he knew things wouldn\'t be bad for them if they stuck together.

But all of this happened until they started to hear the noises of the vehicles approaching them, which Garnt quickly recognized.

"They are coming! They are getting awfully close to us. We have no time, let\'s move," Garnt wanted to keep their hideout a secret from the crazy woman called Mia who was chasing after him and Eva, but it was too late for him, as several vehicles surrounded the area.

Out of the trucks, several soldiers clad in dark uniforms spilt onto the scene, their weapons at the ready. One of them, a stern-looking officer, stepped forward, his gaze fixed on Garnt and the villagers.

[General Oswald!]

Eva commented, as soon as she saw the stern looking man, and Garnt quickly wanted an explanation because he knew things were not looking good for them.

"This is-" It was a surprise for the general to see a dead dinosaur so up close, so he knew it was one of the chances of his lifetime, but at the same time he never expected to find Garnt so easily, after only two days they deployed from the camp.

"I guess we should have avoided the large battles, after all, these weapons are damn loud," Garnt commented, and kept looking at the general knowing he could easily kill his people since they were surrounded by several guns.

"Young man, shall we talk? Or should I say, young woman? Eva, let\'s talk!" Oswald suddenly said looking at Garnt, and he knew things were going to get troublesome for them.
