Vol. 7 - Chapter 356 - End of Interview. Zephyr’s Dilemma - Everyone is so great, whom to choose?

It was Thursday, the final day of the interview.

Just like the first day, I brought them to the training ground, checked their skills and performance there before calling it a day. Interview of the last batch was finally over.

I wouldn\'t have been able to interview tomorrow since I will be giving an elective class. So, the only option I had was to interview all the 62 candidates these days if I didn\'t want to stretch my schedule.

After a huge number of applicants and later screened out by Misato, there were totally 18 boys and 44 girls to interview. ... Girl\'s ratio is really something.

With the series of high-ranking jobs that only girls can acquire, I guess that was just inevitable.

That being said, I was really disappointed with the performance of the boys.

I took their interviews the same way, asking them to display their skills and abilities, but even among them, the girls who took my classes were really cut above the rest.

Their critical thinking was on to the point. Their status allocation for <Magic> and <Skill> was also great, nothing to complain about. I had made sure that I explained their doubts in Q&A time.

\'They took my classes seriously\', a kind of indescribable emotion, something like overcome with feelings, washed over me at that thought.

I guess this feeling was closer to how I was glad I decided to become a lecturer? I can\'t really put my finger on it, but either way, I was really happy to see the fruit of my efforts.

It was a sensation different from what I used to feel when playing <Dungeon Activity> in the past. But I didn\'t hate it.

Rather, it just makes me happy! Alright, I will make sure to do my best tomorrow too!

"So, have you decided on whom you are finalizing?"

"............Say, Misato, just why D-rank guilds can only take up to 20 members?"

I shifted my gaze to the sky and asked this from Misato.

It\'s inhumane to limit the number of people.

I wonder if there\'s no way to take in all these excellent girls? All of them were just so great to the point I don\'t even want them to move to another guild. (Seriously in gestalt)

Well, they are already moving in though.

We also had a few other high-ranking job holders who came for an interview but the difference between them and the girls was as clear as day and night.

Girls easily surpassed them in both abilities and brain department.

There were a few upperclassmen coming for an interview today as well.

There were only 2 high-ranking job holders among them, the rest of them, 15 upperclassmen, were mid-ranking job holders considering <Job Transfer>.

According to my wisdom as a <Dungeon Activity> player, there were quite a few category holders whom I can imagine would be able to get high-ranking jobs, even high-ranking high tiers jobs after <Job Transfer>.

They were quite an enthusiastic one, with no problem in leaving the guild and I also spotted some I could tell our secret would be safe with them.

I think I would have selected them if only there weren\'t these girls who had more in-depth knowledge about the knowledge and sense about jobs after receiving my lectures. They were equally, no even more fired up.

Hmm. There aren\'t many upperclassmen who have taken my classes, and those who have taken it, have recently started.

It hasn\'t been one week yet since my last class so I guess they still have yet to incorporate my teaching into their training completely.

Maybe it\'s not yet time to accept upperclassmen. At this point, I really can\'t wait for the <Job Transfer> system to be implemented quickly.

"How would I know? But I think it would be better if you don\'t delay it for longer. These girls have been coming to take interviews after withdrawing from their guilds, you know that, right?"

"Well, I know that."

I glanced at the materials on my hand. In it were written the names of 22 candidates I have finalized. Now, the point is how should I proceed from here?

By the way, there are 21 girls and 1 boy among them. A shocking gap if I have to say so.

Man, it was visible that boy gave his all. I also understood one thing from this interview session; there are actually not many talents among boys that I want.

I mean, girls have stronger and excellent jobs. Of course, it\'s not like boys don\'t have the talent I want. In fact, this boy ticks all boxes for a talent I want from them.

Let\'s see his profile. It is the same type of people Celestine had given me before out of nowhere, except this time it was about this boy instead of Mert. Just like before, it also had a \'passed\' stamp.

It seems there\'s no need to worry about his character.

Hmm, he\'s from the <Baron> category. Great, <Baron> have some special job lines that other <Noble> categories don\'t, some which cannot be acquired by other than boys.

Furthermore, it\'s potential rival even those of <Princess Job>.

This boy has precisely acquired that peak job in the <Baron> category.

Speaking of this boy, I remember he has been taking my class from day one among other freshmen, so his status has been well allocated as well. I really wanted him in our guild.

"Well, for now, I have decided on these 22 people."

"Roger. I will inform those who couldn\'t make it out from my side."

"Please. Still, it\'s really a dilemma to decide on just a few......"

"Hmm, then why don\'t you create a subordinate guild?"

"A subordinate guild huh~."

Well, that\'s actually quite a good suggestion, it will help <Eden> as well.

Subordinate guild is basically what you call a place for substitute members.

It was a concept to help when a guild fell from their ranks in <Ranking Battle>, causing the number of allowed guild members to reduce as well. Or in case there\'s a talent guild wants to keep but can\'t accept during that moment due to member count constraint.

Subordinate guilds also used to require assistance from the parent guild in the form of QP in the game. The maintenance cost, including this assistance, was quite high.

And this doesn\'t need to be said but subordinate guild cannot have higher rank than parent guild. This translates to their rank is limited to D-rank and they wouldn\'t be able to have more than 20 members.

Members of the subordinate guild were free to explore the dungeon and engage in other aspects like production etc, so there was not much materials and items they contributed to the parent guild. You might as well say that amounts to nothing.

So the only merit of having a subordinate guild was just a place to keep talented personnel affiliated to guild, if you count that as merit that is.

That\'s why I never kept a subordinate guild in the game most of the time. Another reason was I barely lost in the <Ranking Battle> after all. It was only a squandering of QP from my perspective.

Now that I\'m living in precisely its reality, I understand why the materials and items given back from the subordinate guild were minimal.

It would have been wrong in many senses to ask the substitutes to offer their gain to the parent guild. The members of subordinate guilds also have their personal life to deal with obviously.

Between, the idea behind having the parent guild pay the QP was a measure to restrain headhunting.

The members of subordinate guilds are essentially, substitutes. If someone from another guild gave them a lucrative offer like \'you will be our main member\', I don\'t need to say where the result would tip off. All the efforts parent guild had put to keep the talents would all be for naught.

Hence, to prevent that, the parent guild pays the QP to earn the recognition of the academy saying it is the subordinate guild of <XX> Parent Guild, which will grant them the immunity from being poached. If someone wants to scout their come, then come and first discuss with us, was the rule.

On the other hand, if substitute members themselves want to withdraw from the subordinate guild, then they must pay the withdrawal fee to the parent guild. Academy is probably there to make sure such rules are strictly followed up.

It might be late for me to say this, but this is quite an elaborate system.

<Dungeon Activity> game usually glosses over such details. And here my understanding was that I am paying QP to sustain multiple guilds.

Well, the explanation stretched a bit, but the question is; should I create a subordinate guild, or not?

We have an abundance of QP, so that\'s not the problem here. If there\'s any though, then it is,

"Will they be willing to leave their present guild and join <Eden> subordinate guild huh."

Subordinate guild was like an emergency ration.

There are chances they might become regular. To put it bluntly, it\'s a place to keep the potential talent. Plus, we will need a minimum of 5 members to create the guild.

I don\'t think many of them would be fascinated by this idea.

"Hmm~. I think they will readily agree."

Misato said, tilting her head and rabbit hears.

"Why do you think so?"

......Why is she giving me an incredulous look?

"If you think you are being tricked, why don\'t you give it a try? You can\'t find better advice than Misato-chan\'s."

"Misato-chan...... Got it."

It was the advice from scouting pro Misato-chan. It would be unthinkable to turn down Misato-chan advice (?).

I decided to create a subordinate guild.
