Chapter 158: Chronicles of Lockdown XV
Chapter 158: Chronicles of Lockdown XV
‘Maybe I should do this every now and then, it does wonders for my mental stress,’ Jason thought to himself with a lopsided grin, but Mylo would be alarmed to hear the thoughts going through Jason’s head.
Glancing at Mylo who was just staring at the roof’s ceiling, completely silent since the attitude adjustment, Jason scoffed internally and went to pick up the phone stand.
“Anyway guys, it was fun interacting with you all, but I gotta get back to training now, and I don’t think Mylo is in any condition to continue the livestream,” Jason said to the viewers while turning the camera in Mylo’s direction so they could see Mylo clearly.
{And whose fault is that?} Chukwualuka commented.
“Uh, it’s you guys’ fault, I just chose one of the available options… I’m sure Mylo would pick a fight with me over dancing to Gangnam style on the street in his underwear where he could be arrested due to breaking quarantine rules,” Jason shot back with an argument that left no room for a comeback.
“As I was saying… the current physical and mental state of my roommate makes it a little difficult for him to continue the live stream, while I have something else to do, so see you guys later, kapiche?” Jason asked and without waiting for their response, ended the live stream.
Since the live stream was over, Jason first removed Mylo’s phone from the phone stand, took the selfie stick, and took them all to Mylo’s room and put them on the bed. Then he returned to the training room and half carried, half dragged Mylo to his room and put him on his bed, not exerting too much effort.
If he was ever going to lift Mylo up, it was so that he could slam him down with the aim of an attitude adjustment, but any more than the one Mylo had already received today was overdoing it, so Jason just left him on his bed before heading back to the training room.
On getting back to the training room, Jason clicked play on the Spotify app and went back to the treadmill, setting his run back to start all over again.
To be honest, the livestream was fun, and he had gotten the chance to legally beat up Mylo, but he couldn’t get carried away.
He was back in time for no reason known to him.
He didn’t know how, or why he was brought back, but so far, it was his life to live and his aim was to become the best at what he loved which was football, and he couldn’t do that by having livestreams all day no matter how fun they may be.
The greats of any sports or activity were probably training and bettering themselves at that exact moment… Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Lebron James, Steph Curry, Rafael Nadal, etc would all be training and doing their best to improve their game and these guys were already at the top.
How would he even be worthy of competing at their level if he didn’t do at least as much as they did, especially when he didn’t have as much talent as most of them did?
Thus he had to end the livestream and get back to work as that was what mattered to him the most.
Jason didn’t know what happened after death, though there were different stories about what happened after death.
Since Jason’s parents were Christians, Jason tried to believe that they were probably in heaven and that hopefully he could meet them someday and be able to tell them that he had made sure that they hadn’t died in vain because he had become the best anyone could ever become in football.
Of course, whether that would turn out to be the truth or not remained to be seen, but Jason was definitely going to try.
With the beat to the song “Writing on the Wall” by French Montana, Post Malone, and Cardi B starting up, Jason began his run while singing along with the song to keep his vibe up.
“From the block, now we snipin’ on their ass like Somalians…”
***********
The days rolled by one after the other while the world remained on quarantine lockdown, but as the days progressed, efforts were being made by major medicine companies and labs to find a cure or a vaccine for the virus… whichever could be made faster.
The world itself didn’t stay still and soon began to regain its vibrancy and people were now allowed to work from home while students moved to online learning to keep their studies going.
Literally, everything that could be done online began to be done online, but those more physical activities were still being held under hold.
Of course, none of these mattered to Jason who was already experiencing the quarantine lockdown for the second time.
He instead kept his focus on improving his physical condition and he constantly increased his training burden.
He especially tried to improve his strength, stamina, acceleration, and top speed, since they were attributes he could focus on even in the lack of space in his apartment.
His acceleration was his major talent so it only stood to reason that he needed to improve it the most, his top speed also needed to be improved as it was a very important factor in the current football world.
The need for stamina didn’t need to be said as it was a factor that could not be ignored in a taxing game like football, the reason for strength training for Jason however was so that he could increase his resistance to injuries.
He wasn’t trying to bulk up or anything, but in his previous life, he had ignored strength training as he had opted for a speed-focused build, but in the end, he ended up as a speedy glass cannon and became injury-prone.
He needed to avoid that in this reality, especially now that he was so close to the big stage that he always longed for.
Jason also began to practice martial arts again as he felt that it could increase his reflexes, flexibility, and ability to read people a lot more. He also watched a lot of videos and learned a few new skill moves that could be of help in a game.
Finally, he engaged in a lot of match analysis to try and improve his playing style and he engaged in mental training for this aspect as he didn’t have access to a field at the moment.
All in all, he continued preparing to unleash a high-octane style of play as soon as he got back on the pitch.
