Chapter 167: Liga NOS is Back II
Chapter 167: Liga NOS is Back II
{I can almost hear the cheering of fans in their houses watching the Primera Liga return with a bang!}
{The Porto team seems to be intent on making up for lost time and are already displaying the demeanor of league leaders}
{This is what I missed! What we all missed!}
The commentator went wild despite the absence of fans to liven up the stadium with their cheers while Ze Luis headed towards his teammates with a smile and they shared handshakes and hugs, after all, there was no point in a wild celebration since there weren’t any fans at the stadium anyway.
Quickly getting their celebrations over with, the Porto team returned to their half of the field and the Familicao team kicked off again, just ten minutes after they had kicked off the match earlier.
After kicking off, they once again began passing the ball among themselves and trying to keep the ball away from the Porto players, and just like before, the Porto players charged at them, intent on retrieving the ball.
Possession was exchanged between both teams many times in the following twenty minutes and some attacks ended up with a player being able to get a shot away, but by the 30th minute of the game, the scores still remained at 1 : 0 in favor of the Porto team.#33rd minute…
The Porto team had just retrieved possession of the ball and quickly began a counter, trying to break through the Familicao defensive line before the players regained their shape and were able to keep them out.
Otavio who had just stolen the ball off a Familicao player quickly began charging at the Familicao 18-yard box, but before moving more than three yards, he sent the ball flying forward with a quick grounded pass towards the left side of the Familicao 18-yard box where Jason was waiting.
Jason received the ball just a few yards outside the left side of the Familicao 18-yard box with his back facing the penalty area, but in one swift movement after stopping the ball, he dragged the ball with his right foot as he turned and sent it between the legs of a defender coming at him from behind, executing a clean nutmeg.
Quickly running behind past the defender to catch up the ball, Jason didn’t waste any extra touches and instead performed a rabona pass, his right leg swinging behind his left to catch the underside of the ball and sending it high across the face of the goal for Ze Luis who was approaching.
Ze Luis approached the flying ball and leaped up to catch it with his head and send it at the Familicao goal.
The ball contacted Ze Luis’s head and changed direction, flying towards the inside of the goal, but the Familicao keeper reacted quickly and punched the ball upward, sending it flying narrowly over the crossbar.
{What a chance, and what a save!}
{The Familicao goalkeeper has done his best to keep his team from conceding another and making equalizing an even harder task than it already is} The commentator commented about the goal-scoring chance while the Porto and Familicao players arranged themselves in the box for the corner kick.
Soon, the players were done arranging themselves and Alex Telles swung in the corner from the left after hearing the referee blow his whistle.
The cross swung outward as it came into the Familicao penalty area and the players of both teams shuffled against each other, trying to push their way towards the best area to jump for the ball.
When the ball was finally almost overhead, players from both teams jumped for the ball, but it was Pepe, the Porto team captain who got his head to the ball first and he brutishly headed the ball at the Familicao goal.
The Familicao goalkeeper dived at the ball but missed the ball by a few inches, yet when everyone thought the ball was about to go in, a Familicao player who was standing at the corner of the goal, managed to throw himself in front of the shot to keep the ball from going in.
The ball bounced back into play and went towards Shoya Nakajima who immediately wanted to volley the ball back into the Familicao goal, but before his leg reached the ball, another Familicao player appeared and pushed at him to prevent him from kicking the ball.
Shoya Nakajima went down immediately and the referee’s whistle blew immediately after he went down.
Blowing his whistle and pointing at the penalty spot, the players of both teams immediately knew what was going on.
The Familicao players immediately went to the referee to try and convince him that Shoya had just been lightly touched and that the penalty should be revoked, but the referee did not listen to their pleas as he had seen that it was a clear denial of a goal scoring and he was already being lenient enough by not giving the Familicao player a red card on the spot.
In the end, the penalty was decided and the Familicao players couldn’t get the referee to change his decision, thus Telles took up the ball and headed to the spot after a discussion with his teammates.
Placing the ball on the spot and taking four steps back, Alex Telles took a deep breath and waited for the referee’s whistle while staring down the Familicao goalkeeper.
*Fweeeee*
The referee’s whistle was followed by Alex’s first step at the ball, followed by the next, and the next, slowly advancing towards the ball before finally coming into range and whipping the ball towards the right corner of the goal while the unlucky Familicao goalkeeper dived down the left side of the goal.
{He’s put it away comfortably and sent the goalkeeper the wrong way}
{Porto are now two up and Familicao would have a hard time coming back from this score, but it’s not an entirely impossible task either as there is still time for them to gain something from this game} The commentator got on the mic, and did his job while the Porto players celebrated amongst each other.
