Chapter 222: Dragon Style IV
Chapter 222: Dragon Style IV
{A beautifully set up counterattack ending with the remarkable classy finish!}
{Porto take the Rangers to school and show them how it’s done!}
{With two goals already in the first half, how much more do they have in store for their opponents!?} The commentator delivered his commentary loudly with as much excitement and exuberance as the Porto players and fans were currently feeling.
Tiquinho Soares had already taken off towards the sidelines and jumped into a knee slide in excitement while the Porto players had followed after him with some of them jumping into a knee slide after him as they crowded around him in excitement.
At this moment the Porto fans wished more than anything to be at the stadium where their team was playing so that they could feel the excitement with more fervor than the screen they were watching the match from allowed, nevertheless, they didn’t let that dampen their excitement as they cheered for their team from the front of their screens.
The Rangers team’s fans had the same look that could be seen on the Rangers manager’s face… a sordid mix of disappointment, dismay, and their hope slipping away was barely visible as they watched with bitter smiles as the Porto team celebrate their second goal against their team.
It was only the first half and they could already witness the Porto team building up an impregnable wall in front of their team’s chances at promotion in the Europa League round of 16.Unfortunately, it was a wall that they had a hard time believing their team could scale, but they didn’t dare to abandon their hopes yet.
Even if they were going to give up on supporting their beloved team, it wouldn’t be in the first half of the game, so they quickly brightened up and began cheering for their team once again, wishing that their heartfelt support could reach the players and help them with overcoming the obstacle they were faced with.
The obstacle named Porto F.C.
#44th minute…
The first half was gradually coming to an end and Porto was still two goals in front of the Rangers team, though this was not because of the Rangers team having put their full focus into keeping the Porto team out.
Rather the opposite in fact…
The Rangers team had almost given up on defending ever since they had gone two goals behind and had instead played with their full focus on attacking, leaving only two men behind to aid the goalkeeper in guarding their goal.
The rest of the Rangers team put their full efforts into applying pressure on the Porto team and looking for a goal by any means.
They already knew that conceding another goal wouldn’t matter if they were going to lose either way so they had decided to damn the consequences and go for their only way out of this situation with reckless abandon.
That of course required them to equalize through any means possible and they were committed to doing so and had been playing in an all-out attack style ever since.
Of course, this method also had its cons and Porto had almost gotten their third goal a couple of times, but somehow, they had been mere inches wide of making good on their chances every time.
Thanks to this, Rangers were still able to continue attacking with reckless abandon while hoping for a chance that could get them a step in the direction.
Ryan Kent on the left had just received the ball from a teammate and he immediately escaped the tackle of Wilson Manafa yet again as he dashed past him.
Unlike before, Kent did not send in a cross from outside the box, but he instead cut inside and charged into Porto’s penalty box from the left.
Ivan Marcano immediately ran at him to stop him, but with a skillfully executed ‘La Crocheta’, Kent shifted the ball from leg to leg smoothly and stepped past Ivan before taking a shot at the Porto goal.
Augustin Marchesin had kept his eyes on the ball from the start so he managed to dive on time and get a hand to the ball, punching it towards the right.
The ball bounced toward the right of Porto’s 18-yard box and Joe Aribo suddenly appeared in the path of the ball and sent the ball back whence it came, trying to score off the rebound, but Pepe who had not stopped moving for a second got in the way of the shot with a well-timed sliding tackle.
The ball slammed off the back of Pepe’s leg and bounced back once again and once again Kent appeared behind the ball faster than any of the other Porto players and hit the ball with as much power as he could muster.
This time, the efforts of the Porto players on the defense weren’t able to defend Kent’s second attempt at goal and the net of the Porto team was sent flying.
{GOALLL!!!}
{Rangers are dragging it back! They have one!}
{A do-or-die attempt from the Rangers team which ended with them squeezing the ball into the back of their opponent’s net after a magnificent save from the Porto goalkeeper and an impressive block from the Porto team captain!}
{I’m sure the team captain must be wondering where the rest of his defenders were after his and the goalkeeper’s efforts!}
{Porto’s misfortune started with letting the Rangers left winger in from the left and everything that happened after was a given!}
{They must regret it, but it will not matter in the grand scale of things as Rangers have gotten one back!}
{Can Rangers go on to get an equalizer!?} The commentator just wouldn’t stop talking to the annoyance of the Porto players and their fans.
The Porto fans especially wished that they could stuff a brick down the commentator’s throat as the kind of commentary he was giving was too excessive for a team that had merely gotten one back after being barely able to survive the situation they had willingly put themselves in.
The Porto team was still leading and they had been by far the better team, which was reflected in the scoreline, but the commentator was making it feel like the Porto team was lucky to be in the lead and now that the Rangers team had gotten one, they would then go on to stage a comeback.
The Porto fans were definitely riled up at this and they wished their team would show their opponents who was on top and the Porto players in the MSV-Arena were thinking the exact same thing.
There was no way of communicating their thoughts to one another, but somehow, they were thinking the same thing and it was already certain that the second half of the match would be quite turbulent.
