Chapter 240: Blue and Black VS Blue and White XIII
{Alan what do you think happened to the player?} Giuseppe asked his commentary partner as Jason walked off the field with the aid of the medical team.
{Well, we can see from the replay that he was slammed into at the shoulder and he even fell on the same shoulder}
{Going by the way he’s clutching his shoulder, I’m guessing maybe a sprain, dislocation, or in the worst case, a break}
{Either way, the Porto fans will not like having this happen, especially with a new season in sight} Alan responded to Giuseppe’s question by stating the obvious but added a commentary flair to his words.
{I imagine so, a sprain can be considered light and should allow for him to recover in two to four weeks while a dislocation will keep him away from match fitness for at least four weeks and may even require up to eight weeks for a full recovery depending on the extent of the dislocation and his rate of recovery} Giuseppe replied, displaying his knowledge about the issue.
{None of those would sound good to the Porto fans and would sound even worse to the affected player}
{Wishing him a quick recovery} Alan added before bringing his focus back to the game.On the field, Abubakar ran onto the green and went up to Otavio to give him the manager’s instructions meant to cater to Jason’s substitution.
Since Porto did not have extra wingers anymore, Sergio Conceicao intended for Abubakar to take up a striker position while Tiquinho Soares would move to the center attacking midfielder position.
Otavio who was the former CAM would then move to the right midfield position.
In a way, this was the best-attacking line-up that Porto could currently play within the absence of three of their wingers, and this was the lineup they would be relying on to find an equalizer before time ran out.
On the sidelines, Jason watched his teammates rearrange themselves in their half for kickoff before he went along with the medical team into the tunnel.
He was led to an already prepared ambulance where he was made to lie down in the back as the driver turned on the sirens and began driving to the nearest health center.
As he lay in the ambulance, looking at the ceiling of the ambulance, he wondered how things were going at the stadium.
… Back at the Merkur Spiel-Arena…
The match once again kicked off and unlike before when the Inter Milan team had gone on the attack when Porto had been one goal deficit away from equalizing, this time the Inter Milan team decided to focus on defense since the match was already almost over.
With their continuous passing of the ball among themselves, they aimed to keep the ball away from the Porto team but they weren’t ready for the way the Porto players descended on them and stole the ball from them in less than thirty seconds after the kickoff.
It seemed the Porto team had had enough of being behind and they played with so much energy and enthusiasm that one would think the match had just started and wasn’t on its last legs.
For the next seven minutes after regaining possession, the Porto team dominated the match with over excessive attacking football that had their fans on the edge of their seats.
Within that seven minutes, Porto managed to send three shots at the Inter Milan team with two of them being on target, but the heroics of Samir Handanovic kept the Inter Milan team from having to pick the ball out of the back of their net.
The end of ninety minutes was rapidly approaching and the Porto team was running out of time with every second that passed and their movements became more frantic.
On the sidelines, the assistant referee with the board held up the board to signify that there would only be two added minutes.
The Porto players realizing that they had only been given an extra two minutes to find an equalizer became more frantic than ever with their passes and everyone on the team moved forward trying to overload the Inter Milan defense.
Yet time continued to run out and it was soon the 91st minute.
Realizing that it was all or nothing at this point, the Porto team launched a final attack.
Fabio Viera who was on the leg flank suddenly moved to the center as he received a pass from Telles.
Moving closer to the box until he was about 25 yards away, his right leg suddenly snapped back as if he intended to take a shot from there.
Milan Skriniar who was nearby immediately jumped into his path, intending to block the shot but as he jumped into Viera’s path, Viera immediately changed his mind and faked the shot before opting to pass towards Soares who was on his left, and after making the pass, he moved forward.
Tiquinho caught the ball with his left foot, shifted past Christian Eriksen with a quickly executed Elastico, and then sent a return pass to Viera who had moved past Skriniar.
As the ball rolled into Viera’s path, he didn’t bother trapping the ball, instead, he immediately sent a grounded through pass into the right side of Inter Milan’s penalty box.
The ball curled across the ground, sweeping towards the right side of Inter Milan’s penalty box, somehow managing to evade Diego Godin and Stefan de Vrij and rolling into the path of Otavio who suddenly appeared behind on the right.
In his haste to equalize, Otavio did not bother getting the ball under control and instead just swung his leg at it with power.
{OTAVIOOOO!!!}
{Oh what a save! Samir Handanovic is equal to it!}
True to Giuseppe’s words Handanovic had unleashed his full abilities and had performed a spectacular save, but the attack wasn’t over.
