Chapter 50: [50] What do you call it if not hooking up? Maybe seducing?_1
Mr. Rui immediately walked over to the clerk with a smile, “Didn’t you just tell me he hit you?”
The clerk was already pale as a ghost and shaking as she spoke, “Mr. Rui, I… I…”
With the facts now laid bare before her, there was no room for her to fabricate any more lies, and she had no idea how to explain herself.
Mr. Rui slowly crouched down in front of her, “Just because you’re a woman and part of a vulnerable group, you think you can slander others at will? It seems you’ve never experienced the beating of a man. Let me give you a taste of what it’s like to be hit by a man.”
After saying that, he slapped her across the face.
“Smack!”
The slap was so resounding it startled everyone present.
The female clerk covered her burning cheek, tears streaming down.
“Now do you know what it feels like to be hit by a man?” Mr. Rui still surveyed her with a smile.
The woman nodded like she was sifting chaff, “I know now.”
Mr. Rui took a pack of cigarettes out of his pocket, lit one for himself, and then blew a puff of smoke into the woman’s face, “Get lost, I don’t want to see you ever again.”
Immediate terror appeared on the female clerk’s face, “Mr. Rui, please give me another chance, I won’t dare do it again…”
Mr. Rui bit the cigarette in his teeth and glared at her fiercely, “He is my friend. By looking down on my friend, you’re looking down on me. Do you really think I could let you stay? Get out before I lose my temper!”
The female clerk quickly turned to the manager for help, reluctant to give up her job.
This job was both easy and respectable, and she made a handsome commission every month, the envy of many.
If she were to be fired, finding another job like this one would not be easy.
The manager, powerless to help, spread his hands, “Since Mr. Rui wants you out, there’s nothing I can do. You better go now, no need to come back tomorrow.”
The female clerk realized it was beyond salvaging and stood up, sobbing as she left.
Only then did Mr. Rui stand up and turn to the manager, “From now on, keep your employees in line. If there’s a next time, you’ll be the one to go, got it?”
The female manager nodded her head in earnest fear, not daring to show the slightest negligence.
Jiang Zi stood aside, witnessing everything with great shock.
From the attitude of both the female clerk and the manager, it was clear that Mr. Rui was no ordinary person.
And this Mr. Rui seemed to place great importance on Tang Feng.
Whether it was firing the clerk or scolding the manager, it was obvious he was looking out for Tang Feng.
This suddenly filled her with suspicion and uncertainty.
How could Tang Feng know someone like this?
Not to mention her, even Tang Feng himself couldn’t understand.
He had only exchanged a few words with this man at Wan Shi Pavilion, with no real relationship to speak of. Why was he treating him differently?
As he pondered this, Mr. Rui had already walked up to him, “Mascot, are you satisfied with my handling?”
When Tang Feng heard the nickname, his brow furrowed once more, “Can’t you stop calling me Mascot? It’s so ugly.”
Mr. Rui let out a “heh heh,” smiling, “Well, I didn’t know your name, did I? So let’s get to know each other again. My name is Zhou Bingrui. What’s yours?”
“I’m Tang Feng.” Tang Feng didn’t hide anything and gave his real name.
“Tang Feng? That name is too common, not as good as mine,” Zhou Bingrui said with disdain, curling his lip.
Tang Feng immediately rolled his eyes.
This guy really doesn’t see himself as an outsider, huh? We aren’t close enough to joke like this, right?
“Today’s experience at Qianda Department Store was unfortunate, and on behalf of Qianda Department Store, I offer you our deepest apologies,” Zhou Bingkun said, bowing to Tang Feng and Jiang Zi.
But Tang Feng heard something more in his words.
On behalf of Qianda Department Store?
Who could possibly represent Qianda Department Store?
Even the employees of Qianda Department Store probably couldn’t, could they?
Unless it’s a high-ranking executive, or perhaps… the young master of Qianda?
Zhou Bingkun, oblivious to his thoughts, simply pointed at the clothes Tang Feng had picked out earlier. “To show our apology, these clothes are on the house.”
Tang Feng waved his hand dismissively, “No need for that; it’s not like I can’t afford to pay.”
“It’s not about the money. When we make a mistake, we should make it right. If you don’t accept, it means you haven’t forgiven us,” Zhou Bingkun insisted without room for argument, instructing the manager to take down the clothes and then made sure to add, “Pick out a set for this lady as well, the latest style.”
The manager hurriedly agreed and personally went to select clothes for them both.
Jiang Zi was at a loss, unsure whether to accept or decline, and turned to look at Tang Feng, “Tang Feng, I…”
Tang Feng glanced at Zhou Bingrui again, “Since it’s Mr. Rui’s kind gesture, let’s accept it.”
Jiang Zi knew how to give men face in public, and immediately nodded obediently, without further ado.
Zhou Bingrui couldn’t help but size her up again, his face filled with envy as he looked at Tang Feng, “Tangtang, where did you pick up such a top-notch girl? Beautiful, cute, and obedient, why don’t I ever get this lucky?”
Fearing Jiang Zi would take offense, Tang Feng quickly pushed him, “Watch your words, what do you mean by ‘pick up’?”
“If it’s not ‘pick up,’ what is it? ‘Seduce’?” Zhou Bingrui smirked at him suggestively.
Tang Feng couldn’t help but curse, “A dog’s mouth can’t spit out ivory teeth.”
Zhou Bingrui just grinned, not taking it to heart.
It was Jiang Zi who ended up with a flushed face, looking somewhat uneasy.
At that moment, the manager had already packed the clothes and brought them over.
But she didn’t hand them directly to Tang Feng and the others; instead, she passed them to Mr. Rui first, letting him personally hand them over.
From this simple gesture, it was clear why someone could become a manager. There was a reason for it.
Zhou Bingrui handed the bags to Tang Feng.
Tang Feng didn’t stand on ceremony and took them.
Perhaps feeling that a few clothes weren’t enough to express his apology, Zhou Bingrui hesitated for a moment before pulling a black card out of his pocket.
“This is the Black Gold Card of Qianda Department Store; I’m giving it to you as well.”
Tang Feng didn’t know the significance of the card and thought it was just an ordinary shopping card, so he casually accepted it.
But he immediately noticed the surrounding onlookers’ gazes heating up.
As if the card was made of gold.
