Chapter 141: Off to the side
Amidst the screech of several tones of siren, from wails, and yelps to rumbles, two remarkably huge black trucks labeled in white paint—POLICE—or so it seemed to be from a distance, crawled forward.
Its siren light and sounds proved to others, that they were in an emergency. The small vehicles around maneuvered, seeing these trucks inched behind to give space.
Even then the speed was no better than crawling as the vehicles ahead of the two trucks only moved after their butts got nearly kissed.
They were moving unwillingly instead of paving ways for the emergency corridors ahead so much so that it began to annoy Tang Ziyi.
The driver controlled her smile at Tang Ziyi\'s listless expression. Even though their fierce instructor swore to smash through the line a minute ago, she didn\'t utter a word about it.
Depending on their creeping pace, they managed to move 300 meters ahead within a minute or two. That was an impressive record for any vehicle suffering a traffic jam.
To be honest, in the lady driver\'s opinion, she never expected her driving skills to be so superb, managing to drive through congested and compact space, merely inches away from hitting others.
Of course, she didn\'t forget to give these road users, who drove in three lanes rather than the supposedly by-laws two lanes, a middle finger in her head.
In fact, based on the frequency and wavelength of the vehicle\'s siren utilized, the sound could be heard from miles away.
Considering that there were curves and obstacles, probably less than a mile should alarm and inform the road users ahead, that emergency motorcade was present.
Tang Ziyi patted her seat hard. "We can\'t go on like this. By the time we get to the destination with this snail speed, we\'re probably collecting their remains."
The driver joked her in a way she was giving a suggestion. "Instructor Tang, why don\'t you ram these vehicles aside like you said before?"
The driver screamed inside as she imagined her vehicle trampled anyone posing obstacles under its wheels. In reality, she drove meticulously afraid of scratching other\'s properties.
"That\'s a good idea and I know how," Tang Ziyi\'s eyes brightened as she nodded in agreement with what the driver said.
"Wait, what! That boss, I was just joking don\'t take it seriously." The driver pleaded.
"Of course not. I\'m not really into smashing other cars but it might work as a threat." Tang Ziyi picked up the handheld microphone speaker, with its coiled wire connected to the intercom system of the vehicle.
Pressing the button on the speaker, the siren tone dimmed down to nonexistence and she spoke to the surrounding cars. "Vehicles ahead, please pay attention. Because we\'re in an emergency, please move out of the way. We\'re in a rush to save lives. I\'ll give a few seconds to adjust your vehicle to maneuver to make a path. If we still find the vehicle obstructing us, I\'m afraid we\'ll ram you then.
So move it aside, move it."
Perhaps her threat worked, the vehicles immediately to their front rolled out of the path and the pathway ahead of 7 vehicles began to form slowly. Tang Ziyi smiled at her driver and gestured to move on.
The siren resumed and after 10 seconds, Tang Ziyi\'s previous recorded speech played again. The effect was instantaneous and the speed began to rise. Instead of a crawl, it became a walk, at least.
"Whew, I thought you were really considering to ram them with our beasts." The driver patted her chest, flustered by Tang Ziyi\'s words. "Fortunately, it was only a trap and it worked."
Tang Ziyi shook her head—they were already behind the deadline. According to the law, other vehicles must yield to the emergency vehicle but the emergency drivers must be careful to avoid causing an accident because they would be liable for all the damage that happened.
But now that she threatened the other drivers, breaking the country\'s law in the process but who among the drivers knew it was only a threat? And those who understood wouldn\'t tell the others.
In fact, most of the time, making a threat worked very well and law enforcement agencies tend to exploit these. That was also the reason why people should understand the laws thoroughly as if they had studied a history lesson.
However, Tang Ziyi wasn\'t simply making a threat; she was guaranteeing one when she spoke. "It wasn\'t a threat."
Her stoic reply choked the driver to cough out. "Are you serious, Instructor Tang?"
"Deadly serious, if the situation didn\'t improve I don\'t mind it. If there are any vehicles that slow down or obstruct the path, just ram it. I\'ll deal with an aftermath."
"But…But…" The lady driver stammered while the rest of the girls listening behind gave a thumbs-up at Tang Ziyi\'s remarks. They had had enough of patience remaining, regarding the surrounding drivers who had broken the rules in the first place.
"No, but. I said I\'ll take care of the consequences, what\'re you stuttering for."
"Yes, Instructor Tang." The lady driver instantly sat upright.
"Alright, I can assure you—President Ling Qingyu will reimbursed for all the damages." Tang Ziyi waved her hand nonchalantly, drawing giggles around.
Poor, their employer. The girls shook their heads and laughed.
Naturally, the lady driver didn\'t dare and still slowed down for those who didn\'t move in time. Tang Ziyi didn\'t say anything and clicked her tongue in exasperation.
Their gradual speed began to cover the distance with the checkpoint ahead. 2.5 kilometers remained before they reached over.
Finally, their convoy met one car didn\'t bother to move and the domino effect followed. Because it didn\'t move, the car in front of it also followed its behavior.
Tang Ziyi met her first entitled bastards for the first time in her life.
Perhaps, the drivers inside these cars thought, Tang Ziyi was simply bluffing her threats. As they expected the black truck indeed paused; however, not for long, their expectation went downhill.
"Punch through. Like I said, don\'t care about anything just obey my command." Tang Ziyi uttered coldly, almost overwhelming her driver\'s leg to instinctively slam the pedal.
In the stunned eyes of the onlookers who were preparing to eat melons on how the officers inside the black armored truck would deal with the disobedient, a huge roar like a revving engine echoed and the truck sprung forward.
Under the despaired eyes of the entitled driver, who tried to move the car out of the way, it was too late.
Bang! Screech!
The first loud sound came from the collision of the front part of the truck smashing the other\'s trunk and the second was its skidding wheels, as the car was pushed out of the way.
Upon hearing the crash, the rest of the vehicles a couple of meters ahead flung to the side. A narrow path but one that was fine for the Aegis width.
Tang Ziyi told her driver, not to slow down and kept this speed. Su Ruomei cheered up from the radio. "Bravo One, I really wish to replace your position. How does it feel to slam others?"
"Nothing at all." Tang Ziyi replied with a smile, even if the smile couldn\'t be seen.
The commotion broke out and the other road users discussed fiercely with their partners. Some took out the phone to record this incident. It blew up everyone\'s sanity.
Never did they expect, the police truck to dare to bulldoze the public vehicles. Yes, they regarded the crashing as bulldozing as not a scratch appeared on the Aegis.
The entitled car was thrown to the side, hitting the metal rails. The driver inside still hadn\'t recovered from the shock.
Only after some other drivers and passengers came out of their vehicles to help, the man cursed out swear words at the police, not suitable for those under the age of 10 to hear, especially when these words were aimed at the woman, causing the females among the one who volunteered to help sneered and returned.
But the question mark appeared in everyone\'s mind. What caused the police to act so ruthlessly? Until they heard a female officer\'s voice again from the intercom.
