Chapter 234: Ch.233 Decoy

Chapter 234: Ch.233 Decoy

Luckily, both Su Ming (Deathstroke) and Wade (Deadpool) had night vision equipment, and the doctor had a flashlight, so despite the pitch-black conditions of the sewer, they managed to move at a decent pace.

Following Monarch\'s (Magic Prince) guidance, they arrived at their destination: a relatively dry area with a massive iron gate guarded by figures. These individuals, indistinguishable at a glance, were cloaked in black rain ponchos and patrolled the entrance with lanterns. They carried no guns and looked more like fishermen by a dock.

Now, Su Ming and his group were hiding around the corner, their voices masked by the roar of the water. They could talk freely without fear of being overheard.

Wade had caught a large rat earlier, and despite its desperate struggle, he decided to name it William Wallace. He kept fiddling with it in his hands, immune to all diseases himself. Wade was basically a walking virus, so carrying a plague rat as a pet was no big deal.

He figured if he ever returned home, he\'d bring it back. The first moment he saw its shifty little eyes, he felt an instant connection. Vanessa had always wanted a pet, but they\'d never had the chance. Now he had caught a 1942 rat, and that sounded valuable.

"Ahem, stop playing around. Remember the plan?"

Su Ming nudged Wade with his elbow, signaling him to stop feeding the rat bits of his own skin with a knife. Didn\'t he notice how disgusted the doctor and the magician looked?

"Oh, yeah. I remember. Break in, kill them, and call it a day. This plan... uh... couldn\'t be more suited to Deadpool." He almost said the plan was as simple and dumb as it gets, but recalling the power of the Godkiller, he quickly changed his tune.

This wasn\'t really Su Ming\'s full plan. After all, each place would have different circumstances, and more detailed actions would require improvisation. But for someone whose role in the team was essentially "decoy" and "punching bag," Wade knowing this much was enough.

"Good, just run up there and insult them. Say the nastiest stuff you can think of, get their attention. I\'ll handle the rest." Su Ming patted Wade on the shoulder and pushed him out from cover.

Wade looked back and saw all three of them giving him thumbs up from behind the corner, which suddenly filled him with a sense of foreboding.

But he quickly shrugged it off. Who here was a threat to him in this era? Even if Thanos was behind that gate, he\'d still cut him down, right?

He pulled out his katana, twirled it around, and with the rat still in hand, gave a thumbs up in return.

Then, with his katana raised high, he charged toward the gate with a loud battle cry.

Su Ming stayed in the shadows, pulling out the Godkiller and slowly wiping the blade with his hand. "Good. Let\'s observe for a bit. If he doesn\'t step on a landmine, we\'ll move in too."

Holloway\'s face twitched. He wasn\'t sure how to react. "That\'s your cousin, right?"

"He says he is, so he is. It\'s complicated to explain," Su Ming replied calmly.

"Uh, and you\'re not worried something might happen to him?" Holloway scratched his beard, finding the dynamic between the two a little... odd.

"Not really. He can\'t die. He\'s got enough flesh to feed the sewer rats. Best to let him clear out the mines. By the way, Monarch, do you need to transfer any spell costs onto him? He doesn\'t mind that sort of stuff."

Su Ming first reassured Holloway, advising him to sit back and watch, before turning to ask Monarch.

"No, transferring spell costs doesn\'t really help. It would just mean both of us get cursed," Monarch declined.

As a practitioner of black magic, Monarch knew that the dark gods were always hungry for souls. He didn\'t want to involve someone who didn\'t understand magic and get them noticed by the evil gods.

That was Monarch\'s reasoning. But Su Ming figured that even the dark gods wouldn\'t be able to handle Wade\'s antics, much like how DC\'s Hell didn\'t welcome Harley Quinn.

Harley once made a deal with a demon through Zatanna, trading herself in exchange for some souls to play with. The demon returned the souls, but after only three days, sent Harley back. The demon couldn\'t handle her incessant babbling and craziness, breaking the contract itself and accepting the penalty just to be rid of her.

Harley\'s face was at least somewhat pleasing to the eye. Wade\'s face, though? He looked like a shriveled-up avocado.

But since Monarch refused, that was that. He was a hero after all, different from Su Ming\'s more ruthless methods.

Now, with no issues left, the trio peeked out from behind the corner, watching Deadpool charge at the enemies in the dark.

"Your lord Deadpool is here! Get your necks out, you cow patties mixed with mutated abominations! You freaks born out of a donkey\'s rear!"

Wade followed Su Ming\'s tactical orders to the letter, spewing vile insults. Although, even if Su Ming hadn\'t instructed him, Wade probably couldn\'t stop himself.

The guards at the gate, who had been patrolling with lanterns, noticed Deadpool running toward them, his sword gleaming in the dim light.

As Wade got closer, his filthy words grew clearer, and suddenly, one of the raincoat-clad figures exploded.

Literally exploded—not figuratively.

The black raincoat billowed up, and the person\'s body inflated like a balloon filled with air, before bursting with an earth-shaking boom. Blood, flesh, and bones sprayed out, covering Wade head to toe.

In an instant, Deadpool was a walking bloodbath, with several broken ribs lodged in his head and a chunk of intestines hanging from his scalp.

Covered in blood and gore, Wade slipped on the slick ground and fell flat on his back.

"Whoa..." Holloway grimaced. Even from a distance, the scene was gruesome. He had never seen someone insult another into exploding before.

"This isn\'t magic," Monarch said, slightly more composed but still puzzled. He couldn\'t figure out why it happened either, but he could at least confirm it wasn\'t a spell.

Su Ming, of course, knew it wasn\'t D&D\'s "Color Spray" spell. The guy who had just ballooned up and exploded was still alive.

With Su Ming\'s enhanced vision, he could see that the man, despite having burst open like a pi?ata, was boasting to his companions, as if he had just killed Wade.

The man\'s abdomen was healing at a rapid pace, first his organs, then his bones, and finally his muscles and skin.

In just a few seconds, he was back to normal.

But Su Ming remained calm. The enemy wasn\'t dead, but neither were any of his allies. By now, he had a good idea of who these people were. Wade would keep them distracted while he waited for the right moment to act.

Having someone in front to take the hits and focus on offense from behind... no wonder superheroes loved forming teams.
