Vol. 3 - Chapter 29 - Mia and the dinner with a royalty
However, the only person who could think like this was Mia, who was in a very special situation. It did not apply to other people.
"Hey, is aristocracy going to disappear?" Teresa muttered.
"There\'s no way it\'s going to disappear!"
"Don\'t yell! I\'m also the son of an imperial soldier. I also don\'t think aristocracy is going to disappear. However, I am interested in this. Suppose it disappeared, I wonder how it would turn out?" Pluto asked a simple question while picking his ear with his pinky finger.
"Probably, if we consider the statement of Sensei until now, first of all, there would be a centralized authoritarian rule system. From there, I think it should transfer to parliamentary democracy," Eight crossed his arms and replied immediately.
"Parliament system........hmm, what\'s that?" Teresa tilted her small head in puzzlement and asked Eight.
"It is a system in which major political decisions are made by a group of representatives elected by citizens in consultation with each other."
"By citizens, you mean commoners!?" Cliff rose from his seat and shouted with disgust all over his face.
"Yes. Sensei denied the management of political situations only by the aristocracy, right? From a political point of view, at least, we are envisioning a society that does not recognize the distinction between commoners and nobles."
"There is no way such a society is possible!"
Pluto pulled a wry smile on his face at the outburst off Cliff. "You know, we are just testing a hypothetical system! We aren\'t arguing about whether it\'s possible or not!" he stated strongly.
"Guh!" Cliff sat down on his chair and turned away.
He was a little surprised.
The Cliff of a while ago would have walked out of the classroom in anger. Mia knew he would.
"Alright, alright, everyone. It\'s lunchtime."
Just then, a beautiful white-haired woman appeared with black-robed Spy, carrying a dish.
"Thank you very much as always, Lucia-san," Pluto stood upright and bowed his head with a slight blush on his cheeks.
"You should eat properly since you are still growing."
With a smile on her face, Lucia-san opened her magic bag and laid out the food on the table.
After Lucia\'s and Spy\'s figures disappeared, Mia and the other students began to eat their lunch.
"Today\'s lunch is a sandwich and milk. This cheese thing is really tasty as always," Pluto earnestly stated his impression.
"This cutlet sandwich is also delicious! The gravy and the sauce are just perfect....." Cliff filled his cheeks with an ecstatic expression on his face.
"Everything is delicious."
"Yes, it is."
Mia nodded slightly at Teresa, who was happily gobbling up the sandwich with her mouth wide open, and pecked at the sandwich like always.
The unique sourness that spread in the mouth and the soft texture that melted in the mouth blended exceptionally well with the crispy vegetables. Besides, the white bread was also fluffy and lightly sweet.
"Nevertheless, I never thought I could eat a dish of this calibre."
"I agree with you. I hope this dish can be served to the people in my territory as well. ......"
"........."
For a moment, Teresa\'s well-shaped eyebrows popped up slightly.
Teresa?
Looking at the figure of Teresa, who continued to eat as if nothing happened, Mia wondered if what she saw was her imagination.
Pulling herself together, Mia resumed putting the sandwich in her mouth.

"You\'ll be taking a quest with me tomorrow. By the way, it will be a combat-type quest, so be prepared for that."
"Yosh!" (T/N : Imagine a person pumping his hand in excitement.)
Pluto struck a gut pose, and Teresa jumped up and down.
Cliff was crossing his arms as usual and making a grumpy expression, but somehow his face looked a bit happy.
"This is today\'s quest. Work hard, everyone."
When they took a quick look at the document provided by the guild, it was about [8 servings of salmon pie].
However, the client\'s name was left blank as usual.
It seemed that today\'s class was about water magic.
They had guessed it somehow, even including receiving an absurd quest with blanked client name, so it was nothing unpredictable.
But, if they had to say it—
"You know, we\'ve never made a salmon pie before."
Everyone nodded at Pluto\'s remark.
"Well, let\'s bring the fish and go to the dining hall in Straheim, [Silver Knife]."
"I see, so we have to make a pie," Eight put his right fist on his left hand and nodded broadly. "Today\'s quest is surprisingly decent."
It was just as he said.
The quest yesterday was about repairing and renovating a tattered residence. And they had even asked them to glass it all up.
In the end, they had finally completed it at ten in the evening. No matter how you think of it, that was beyond the scope of an adventurer\'s work.
"Of course, you will have to make the pie yourselves. You will have to make the pies yourselves. All ingredients, except for the salmon, must be procured at the market. You can rest assured that all costs will be borne by the client."
"Of course, it\'s obvious!!"
Ah, after all, it turned out like that.....
In a mood of resignation, the teacher unilaterally told Mia and the others to get the recipe for the pie from the head chef of the [Silver Knife]. Then, after moving her and her friends to the usual square in Straheim, he disappeared.
The riverbed at the northeastern edge of Straheim.
A sphere of water floating on the surface of the river slowly lifted up into the sky.
"I-I caught it!!" Eight shouted in delight.
The reason for this was a single fish being closed in a water ball. This was a mid-rank water magic, Water Balloon. By manipulating the water into a spherical shape, the fish was captured inside the water.
Eight took the fish in his hand and stored it in his magic bag.
"Eight-chan has finally learned to use magic, right?" Teresa muttered in admiration.
"That\'s right," Mia also gave her impression.
"Hee-hee........"
"Well, it\'s not still near my level, though," Cliff nodded, but said proudly.
"Say, what are you even competing for?"
"Shut up!"
Looking at the pouting Cliff, Pluto only shrugged his shoulders and looked at the others.
"Alright! With this, we now have 30 fish. This should be enough. Let\'s return to [Silver knife] after purchasing the remaining ingredients."
Everyone nodded at the suggestion and started walking towards the market in Straheim.
"It\'s a complete waste! There\'s no way I can give this to customers! Remake it!"
From the head chef of [Silver Knife], they had already received the label of waste multiple times.
"Hey, let\'s do it."
"……"
Everyone nodded in silence at Pluto\'s word.
Had this happened around the beginning of their taking quests, Cliff would have been in a rage. Mia and the others would have tossed their spoons immediately as well.
But after three weeks of daily quests, they knew that the teacher hadn\'t just made a choice on a whim. They knew that very well.
Right now, Mia\'s and other students\' abilities had been increasing at an unbelievable rate. It wasn\'t only about magic. Just like today\'s politics class, they were acquiring skills and knowledge in various fields every day. And they noticed it vaguely. If you really wanted to do something for this country, there was no meaning in only learning magic, no matter how much you studied.
Then, after three failed attempts, the head chef finally gave them a passing score.
"Alright. It\'s still not very good, but it\'s an edible salmon pie."
"Thank you very much!" the students bowed their heads.
"Do your best!" The head chef encouraged them with a cheerful smile and returned back to his work.
They received their pies and headed to the assigned client\'s residence.
◇◆◇◆◇◆
The destination was a large, four-story mansion on the northern edge of Straheim.
"Hey, this is......"
As Cliff looked up at the gorgeous building, his cheeks twitched.
"Yes, I feel like this is a villa of royalty."
During the three weeks they did quests in Straheim, they had walked around almost everywhere. They had heard that this mansion was the place where the royal family stayed in Straheim.
"You\'re right. I didn\'t think today\'s client is......" Pluto blurted out.
"No-no, it should be impossible," Cliff shook his head in panic.
"Y-you are right.." even Teresa, who had always been carefree, was obviously baffled.
"Anyway, let\'s deliver the pie before it gets cold."
"Yeah...."
Unexpectedly, they were urged by Eight, who was the most reclusive in the group. Pluto approached the guard and told him that he had brought a pie for the quest.
"Please wait here."
They expected to get their documents sealed and simply released. But instead, they were ushered into the guest room of the mansion.
After a stomach-churning time, two people walked in.
They were over two meters tall, with long golden hair that looked like a mane. If you lived in the Imperial City, you must have seen them at least once at a ceremony. It was the Emperor of the Archive Empire, Georg Rose Archive!
"Y-Your Majesty!"
Naturally, Mia stood up from her seat like a spring. She was sure that must be the same for Pluto and the others.
Eight remained in his seat, scurrying around and looking up at Mia and the others, then at His Majesty.
"Make yourselves comfortable. First, let\'s eat the pie you brought for us."
Mia somehow managed to nod and take her seat.
"Oh! This is good! And delicious!"
Emperor Georg\'s words of praise were certainly an honour, but to be honest, Mia was too nervous to feel the taste of any of it.
"It tastes good to me, too."
A beautiful silver-haired girl, who looked like a goddess from a fairy tale that had manifested in this land, elegantly held a pie in her mouth, her cheeks relaxed.
She was also an incredibly famous person, Lilinoa Rose Archive. The saintess of the empire, who boasted overwhelming popularity among men and women of all ages, and Ronald\'s older sister.
"Long time no see, Mia. Ronald is indebted for your help."
Since Ronald was never fond of preferential treatment given to royalty, he never actively introduced his family members, even to Mia and the other close friends. However, once he had introduced Mia to his own sister, Her Highness Lilinoa.
"Y-yes!"
Mia hurriedly bowed deeply to Her Highness Lilinoa, who bade her an elegant bow.
"Umm— Your majesty, what business do you have with us today?" Eight, as the representative of the nervous students, asked the question they all wanted to know most.
"We wanted to eat salmon pie, but we also wanted to see what kind of people his favourite students were."
"Are Sensei and Your Majesty acquainted!?" Cliff leaned forward and asked.
"Well, yes. Depending on your achievement, I might be called father-in-law or brother-in-law by him."
Emperor George tossed the pie in his mouth as he smiled dryly in cynicism. Meanwhile, Her Highness Lilinoa was writhing with both hands on her crimson cheeks.
"What does it mean......"
"Don\'t mind it. It\'s just a talk about schemes between worthless adults. Rather, you guys are improving, right?"
"Yes!" the students\' responses overlapped wonderfully.
Emperor Georg watched Mia and the others with narrowed eyes.
"Hang in there. I sincerely hope that you will be able to get through this hardship safely."
"I\'m rooting for you all the way! Please give your all to make sure you pass the exam brilliantly!"
The boys in the group, Pluto and Cliff, were trembling with emotions when they looked at the figure of Her Highness Lilinoa, who crossed her arms and encouraged them to seriously fight against fate.
"We will all give our best!!"
Unlike Pluto, who was fascinated by Her Highness Lilinoas\' appearance, Eight bowed politely, and Mia and the others followed suit.
"Now, let\'s eat."
Emperor George raised a corner of his mouth and urged them to resume eating.
◇◆◇◆◇◆
After being politely escorted to the front of the residence, they were now on their way.
"Really, what kind of person is Sensei, to even be acquainted with the Emperor?"
Pluto\'s question was one that they all shared at the moment.
"Sensei is Sensei. I don\'t think there is any other answer."
Eight\'s words were strangely persuasive, as he asserted with a mysterious look on his face.
"You\'re right, too. It\'s a waste of time to think about him....."
"Maybe...."
Pluto and Cliff nodded.
"Hey, hey, when we get to the dorms, let\'s play Battle Mode on the bags again today, okay?"
"Yeah, sure. I\'ve been losing to Teresa a lot lately. I\'ll win this time."
"Yes-yes, but I am not going to lose!"
Sensei had given them an improved version of the magic bag. The difference between the old bag and the new one was the addition of a new mode called Battle Mode, where you could compete with everyone else for points between 0 and 100.
"You guys are totally......"
Cliff shook his head in disgust, and Eight chuckled.
For some reason, this atmosphere made Mia very happy.
"Mia, you are also participating, right!?"
"Of course!"
Mia cheerfully said in agreement.
