Chapter 543: Seraphine Isles enter the game
"Yeah, he\'s like a Hitler fanboy or something," Greed added as she watched the broadcast.
As Greed spoke, Juan Carlos\'s movements and mannerisms were eerily similar to those of Hitler. His body was adorned with various medallions, insignias, badges, and significant decorations, all clinking and clanging as they covered his entire front.
"This plebeian must really have issues with his self-esteem, Master," Nexus Prime chimed in.
The speech dragged on, covering topics like race, prosperity, justice, and the world\'s descent into depravity. Juan Carlos declared that only his people were pure, the ones who saw the truth of the world, and that they themselves embodied justice.
*Yawn* "God, this guy finally got to the point," Daniel muttered after yawning out of boredom.
"…And in the name of justice," Juan Carlos declared, gesturing dramatically to his left.
"I\'ll help this king regain his land from the corporate dogs of Astral Tech Company! Our righteous wrath will trample upon their greed, and our brave soldiers will liberate the people of the Tessia Kingdom!" Juan Carlos continued in his self-absorbed tone.
Daniel briefly considered using the God Slayer Cannon to fire on the stage, but he hated complications and troublesome situations. If people knew he had a massive particle cannon hovering in orbit, ready to fire at any moment, they might make people, especially from his enemies, to make a mountain out of molehill.
Okay… firing a particle cannon from orbit onto someone\'s head might not be a molehill, maybe just a reasonable hill, but definitely not a mountain. So, he decided to keep it as a last resort… or save it for when someone really pissed him off.
"What do you plan to do? Will you fight?" Envy asked, curious about what Daniel was going to do.
Daniel thought for a moment before shaking his head. "No, I\'ll let Cao Cao handle it. There\'s a reason I appointed him as CEO of Astral PMC. Besides, I think Nexus Prime and our advanced technology should be enough to deal with them."
"Yes, master, I\'ll eradicate these plebeians from the face of the earth," Nexus Prime responded, having heard his name mentioned.
*sigh* "Do things in moderation, Prime. These people don\'t deserve death... yet," Daniel replied with a sigh. The emphasis on "yet" made Prime understand that those people still hadn\'t crossed a certain threshold or touched his master\'s bottom line.
"Then, what are you going to do?" Envy inquired.
"I think I need to go to Greece," Daniel answered.
Hearing this, Envy remembered that Michaela had mentioned the clue Leviathan gave Daniel about the Lucifer cult there. A mischievous smile spread across her face. "Oh? Are you planning to add Pride to our little family? That\'s fine, but I should warn you—she\'s inexperienced in relationships, so don\'t just pounce on her…."
"Do I look like that kind of person to you?" Daniel quickly retorted, then calmed down. "Isn\'t she your pupil and Koyuki\'s friend? That\'s why I\'ll help her," he reasoned.
But Envy wasn\'t convinced, her mischievous smile still plastered on her face. "Sure, sure, I believe you."
*Sigh* "Women…." Daniel muttered, deciding to focus on his breakfast. Afterward, he\'d need to go to the office and contact Cao Cao and Albert to help him manage things here. But Greed seems to be suddenly interested in the topic as she walks toward him.
"Are you going to Greece? Can I come with you? I happen to have some business there," said Greed.
"Huh? I\'m planning to stir up trouble with those cultists. Are you sure you want to come with me? It\'s going to be dangerous, you know," Daniel warned.
"That\'s perfect! While you draw the attention of Hightower and everyone else, I can take care of my business without worrying about their prying eyes," Greed replied.
Hearing this, Daniel frowned. Greed seemed to be deliberately hiding something.
"What do you mean by \'their\'? Are they your enemies? Are you going to be alright?" he asked, concerned.
"It\'s fine. They\'re just an annoying bunch of Hellenic religion worshipers. They\'re an old religion, but they still have some followers within the Curtained World," Greed explained.
"What do they gain from worshiping those old gods?" Daniel inquired.
"You\'d be surprised to know that these old gods are quite generous with the blessings they bestow upon their followers," Envy chimed in, taking a sip of her coffee before continuing.
"Of course, that generosity comes at a price… usually the followers\' fate and the sacrifices they make to these Olympian gods. In fact, many mages worship these old gods because it\'s more practical for them than Christianity or other modern-day religions," Envy explained.
"You mean because of the blessings?" Daniel asked.
"Exactly. Some blessings are quite powerful too, especially for those higher up in the hierarchy of these Olympian worshipers," Envy confirmed.
Hearing this, Daniel began to think. His paranoia kicked in once again, and he realized he needed to take some time to prepare for the trip to Greece.
— A few day passed —
After the declaration from Juan Carlos, the forces from the Seraphine Isles started to move after they had prepared everything for three days.
Of course, they didn\'t dare to move to New Atlantis directly, they move their forces to land on the Tessia Kingdom Mainland first to subdued all of the warlord that are warring each other and established a base, then they\'ll move their forces through the connection bridge between Tessia Kingdom mainland and New Atlantis.
The fight going as predicted, the forces from the Seraphine Isles with abundant support from the Qing Empire was unmatched. They march and attack each warlord, faction and gangs with gusto without meeting any challenging resistance.
The royal capital has been captured, mines, farmland and a lot of national resources has been captured. It could be said that the Tessia Kingdom Mainland will be fully captured by the Seraphine Isles forces. Until, they reach the area near the border of the New Atlantis.
— Tessia Kingdom - Border Area Near New Atlantis —
I\'m Pedro Costa. After volunteering as a recruit in the PMC, it was no surprise that the PMC was swiftly transformed into an official army the moment Mr. Emberweave declared New Atlantis\' independence. Independence is great, especially for a soldier like me.
Why is it great? Because everyone who volunteered to be a soldier during this time will receive a land deed of their own once phase two is complete, I don\'t know what phase two is, so let\'s leave it at that.
And how will New Atlantis provide land to these new soldiers? By carving it out of the failed state of Tessia Kingdom. At least, that\'s what I thought. Powered by m|v|l|e|mpyr
From what I know, the two warlords in the border area surrendered to New Atlantis unconditionally. The people in their territories were the first to become refugees and fled to New Atlantis, so the warlords had nothing of value left. After all, population is the key to a territory\'s existence; you can\'t rule a barren land without people.
As for me, I\'ve already passed the test and completed basic training. Yes, it\'s just the basic training. I won\'t receive my personal power armor until I pass the power armor usage and maintenance course. You could say I\'m just an intern, but hey, I\'m getting paid more than three times what a convenience store manager earns.
This is why the recruitment standards have been raised recently. Refugees with muscle brains like me were immediately pledged themselves into service as soon as they entered the country.
Right now, I\'m on the front line, preparing to face an attack from those poor sods from the Seraphine Isles. God, they have no idea what they\'re up against this time. I certainly don\'t envy them.
As I suspected, those poor sods appeared on the horizon, sending out a scout squad first, just as expected. How do I know? Because right now, I\'m stationed in the monitoring room, sitting comfortably in a safe and cozy camp, keeping an eye on the stealth drone.
Yeah, I\'m pretty lucky—or really, really lucky—to have joined the military while it was still a small PMC. Because of that, I received more training than my fellow refugees who enlisted a week after me. I learned communication, equipment training, survival skills—everything that would make me effective on the battlefield, especially if I ever needed to operate with only a squad and no other support.
That\'s why I\'m considered somewhat of an officer, and I\'m at the forefront of the new recruits set to receive personal power armor once I pass the power armor usage and maintenance course.
