Chapter 45: 41. Witch Rank 3

With a casual tap, Dorothy opened the Rank section of her Identity Card and could see her recent point gains.

[Current Points: 10086]

[Points Record: XX year XX month XX day, at sixteen, you claimed victory in the Magic Network Young Witch Duel Competition, achieved a flawless winning streak and earned the Duel King achievement, points +2000]

[XX year XX month XX day, at sixteen, you won a duel against a higher-ranked opponent, points +86]

The Witch Rank point system probably worked like this: Weak Witch 0-1000 points, Witch 1000-10000 points, and with each advancement, the point requirement increased tenfold.

Looking at her own case, Dorothy found her personal strength points to be the least noteworthy, talent and specialty points were just so-so—a SR yielded 500 points, an SSR 1000 points, and they were quite tiring to grind.

If you wanted to farm points, achievements were the way to go. Last year, Dorothy was just an ordinary witch with 8000 points, but after this year’s victory in the Magic Network Duel, she suddenly broke through the 10k barrier and joined the ranks of Elite Witches.

She had also checked online, if it had been a real-life youth group duel competition, the points reward would have been a terrifying one-time bonus of 10k points.

But what’s the point of farming points?

Well, none at all, except that I can brag, "I became an Elite Witch at sixteen" in front of others, there really isn’t any other use.

This kind of rank certification isn’t going to help me fend off my mom who’ll be kidnapping people in 50 years. Euphilia won’t spare me just because I have a high rank then.

While some witches may be keen on racking up points, Dorothy wasn’t particularly interested; being an introverted homebody, she didn’t have friends to show off to, so whether her Rank was high or low was for her eyes only.

And the more she thought about it, the more daunting the gap between her and a Peak Witch seemed. Even if Rank didn’t necessarily reflect combat ability, overall strength was still a form of power. The entry points for Peak Witches were a whopping million, and then looking back at the measly 10k+ points she had accumulated over sixteen years...

Don’t ask; asking only adds to my exhaustion. The gap is as wide as an ocean, and thinking about it only adds to my despair. I’m sorry; it seems I got too carried away with my earlier eager promise.

Dorothy lamented internally.

However, her sighing while gazing at the Identity Card caught the attention of Euphilia sitting across from her.

"What’s your Rank now?"

The Dragon Witch asked with slight curiosity.

Indeed, there wasn’t much need to ask. After all, her daughter had only just enrolled at Witch Academy today, so it couldn’t be a high Rank. Even with the disclosure of those two SSR-level talents, it would at most be a regular witch with just over 2000 points.

However...

"Sigh, just an Elite Witch, so noob I could pick my feet,"

Dorothy sighed again and said.

Euphilia: "....."

"Hiss..."

The Angel Witch beside her took in a sharp breath.

Mentor and mentee locked eyes once more, then fell silent.

Dorothy, clueless, blinked in confusion at their odd expressions and couldn’t help but become a little curious.

"What’s wrong? Is it too low? Well, I can grind higher points, actually. I have a bunch of qualifications I’ve been too lazy to test for, but since farming points seems pretty meaningless, I didn’t bother, and I’m not planning on it. Just go with the flow..."

"Go, right after you get to school, you’re taking those exams. Sophia, you make sure she does,"

Finally, the Dragon Witch couldn’t hold back anymore. Her cold facade shattered, and she gritted her teeth as she ordered the Angel Witch.
