Chapter 355 Madam High Witch

One of the women then said, "It\'s the Prince!"

"Yeah, isn\'t he the Jaegar, the one who was acquitted?" said the other woman who was in the group.

The group looked at Jaegar for a moment, talking as if he were present there.

"Hold him here; I will pass on the news to Madam Keeling," one of the women, dressed in armour, said to other women and departed.

Satvi, who was silently watching the scene, standing beside Jaegar, whispered to Jaegar, "Hey, why are they so hostile towards you?"

Even Satvi can tell by looking at them that those women were obviously showing their outright hostility towards him, not even hiding their murderous glare.

Jaegar wasn\'t blind to their direct hatred, and he can\'t seem to understand the specific reason for it. But he wasn\'t bothered by it right now, as he was anxious to see his aunt.

They could see the young girls going in, probably the members who were here to participate in the trials. Satvi was looking at them eagerly with a lot of hope in her eyes. There was a yearning and wishful thinking in her deep black eyes that Jaegar noticed.

He said, "Go on, why are you waiting here?"

Satvi turned to him and said, "I think it\'s rude to leave before the prince."

Jaegar chuckled softly, "No, you don\'t need to. Just go, don\'t mind me."

Satvi bowed and said, "Then please excuse me." She left the place, going inside along with the other girls.

Jaegar stood aside at the gates, watching her leave. A faint smile crossed his lips, seeing her departing figure among the young woman.

She was a very peculiar girl, and Jaegar thought that she had a certain charm around her that made people calm.

The one who went inside returned with a woman, and seeing her, Jaegar instantly recognised her. She was dressed in charcoal grey-coloured robes; her hair came in braids, down on her back. Her sharp and slender nose was quite the attraction on her face.

"Mr. Ambrose," the woman said as she reached the gates.

"Ms. Keeling," Jaegar greeted her. She was the woman he met the last time when he came to the spire. Evanore Keeling, a prominent member of the council now.

Last time when he saw her, she was just a novice, but she seemed to have rose up to the ranks and was now held in a significant position in the spire.

Jaegar said, "I need to meet Lady Angelina." Experience more on empire

He addressed Angelina in a formal way, so as not to add their anger by calling her master. Now it wasn\'t the time to pick up a fight with them. Not until he saw his aunt. He controlled his temper, trying to be as patient as possible.n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om

The air crackled with tension as Evanore Keeling stood before Jaegar, her posture rigid and unyielding.

Jaegar\'s dark and stormy eyes bore into Keeling\'s with an intensity that would have made lesser individuals flinch. But Keeling, an experienced witch, stood her ground, her chin lifted in defiance.

"I don\'t think it\'s possible right now," Keeling stated, her voice cool and measured, a stark contrast to the swirling emotions visible in Jaegar\'s expression.

Jaegar\'s brow furrowed, deepening the lines of frustration etched across his face. "What do you mean?" he demanded, his words clipped and sharp.

Keeling\'s response came swiftly, her tone leaving no room for argument. "She is retired behind closed doors. She won\'t be disturbed unless it\'s urgent."

The muscles in Jaegar\'s jaw tightened visibly as he fought to control his rising anger. "It is urgent that I meet her," he insisted, his voice low and dangerous.

He can\'t seem to find the reason why they were so adamant on not letting him in. Yes, they wouldn\'t allow any man inside the towers, but she could have just informed her of his arrival.

"No." Keeling\'s refusal was as firm as the ancient stones beneath their feet.

Behind her, the guard women shifted almost imperceptibly, their stances widening as they prepared to intervene if necessary. The subtle movement didn\'t escape Jaegar\'s notice, and it only served to fuel the fire of his growing frustration.

Jaegar\'s temper, already simmering beneath the surface, began to boil over. His voice took on a menacing edge as he spoke, each word dripping with barely contained fury. "At least, let me meet my master."

At this, Keeling\'s eyebrow arched upward, a flicker of something—perhaps pity, perhaps disdain—passing across her features. "She is no longer your master," she stated matter-of-factly. "You have betrayed her trust. And no, you can\'t meet her."

The words struck Jaegar like physical blows, each one chipping away at his already fragile composure. The air around him began to shimmer faintly, the first visible signs of his arcane power responding to his turbulent emotions.

Jaegar\'s fist clenched at his side, faint tendrils of lightning crackling between his fingers. The display of power might have intimidated others, but Keeling remained unmoved. "Then bring me to my aunt," Jaegar demanded, his voice trembling with the effort of restraint.

"I know she is in there."

Keeling\'s other eyebrow joined the first, rising in apparent surprise.

"Your aunt?" she echoed, a note of derision creeping into her voice. "Oh, that woman.

We sent her away as she was a novice." Her gaze hardened as she continued, "You are such a disappointment to the wizard community. You are the reason she—"

Before she could finish her sentence, the ground beneath Jaegar\'s feet cracked, a spiderweb of fissures spreading outward from where he stood. His eyes, now glowing with an otherworldly light, locked onto Keeling\'s.

"What did you just say?" He growled, his voice barely above a whisper but carrying the weight of a thunderclap.

It was only then that Keeling seemed to notice the invisible aura surrounding Jaegar, a discernible force that made the very air around him vibrate with power.

She cleared her throat, a flicker of uncertainty passing across her face for the first time. "I said we sent her away," she repeated, her voice losing some of its earlier confidence. "She can\'t stay in the Spire."
