Chapter 459: All That Glisters Is Not Gold

Chapter 459: All That Glisters Is Not Gold

Ouyang Ya was certain that there would not be any reliable technicians in a small town like Yu City. Although asking Raptor to fix the computer was like shooting a bird with artillery, it was better than wasting everybody’s time here.

Of course, she also wanted to take advantage of this chance to tell Fu Zhi the difference between her and the Hacker Alliance.

Raptor nodded and squatted down to check the computer.

“Someone played games on this computer, right?” Raptor said, “This computer is outdated and the system crashed because it can’t handle the amount of work. It seems like it’s attacked by some kind of virus when someone downloaded the game software.”

His diagnosis was pretty accurate.

Director Liu nodded profusely and asked, “Yes, yes, you’re right. Then, do you know how to fix it?”

“10 minutes,” Raptor said, his voice full of confidence. He then pulled his phone out of his bag, and after he had connected it to the CPU, he began typing away on the keyboard.

Someone below the stage whistled, “Oh yeah! He’s such a pro. When he said he’s gonna fix the computer in 10 minutes, I felt my knees go weak!”

“The charm of the internet is too great. Hackers are all so cool!”

“He’s one of the top 10 hackers in the Hacker Alliance, of course, he’s cool!”

Time flitted by minutes and seconds. The students kept showering Raptor with all sorts of praises, and on the 8th minute, they saw that Raptor’s expression changed from confident to shock and finally, panic. They had no idea why but they suddenly had a bad feeling about it.

Was he able to fix the computer?

They were already tired of praising him.

Right now, Raptor’s forehead was filled with large beads of sweat. He could delete the virus and he could solve the crashing. However, he was too careless. When he was typing the code to attack the virus, he failed to notice the firewall on the computer. The second it noticed his attack, the firewall began attacking him.

Then, when he fought back, he accidentally triggered a certain software on the computer and the system crashed again.

If it were normal time, he would become even more pumped, but right now, he had announced that he was going to fix the computer in 10 minutes. If he could not do it, would it not equal to bringing disgrace upon himself?

Director Liu did not know about his predicament. He just wanted him to fix the computer as soon as possible, so he asked, “Erm, is everything okay? Can you fix it in 10 minutes? I didn’t want to extend the class because of the computer issue. My students need to go to the toilet to pee.”

Raptor did not know what to say.

‘Can I go pee now?’

At the same time, Ouyang Ya came forward. She had full faith in Raptor and she said, “It’s just a small problem. I guess there isn’t anyone here who’s more professional than Raptor. If he cannot fix it, nobody can.”

Nian Feiyuan nodded and added, “That’s right! There’s no one in this world who’s better than Raptor, let alone in Yu City.”

Raptor was becoming more and more nervous. Not only did Ouyang Ya not help him, but she put him in an even more difficult position.

He tried to calm himself down and typed a few codes to attack the firewall. Then, the black screen lit up and white letters were dancing and jumping on the blue screen.

The students hurrahed in joy, “He indeed is one of the top hackers in the Hacker Alliance. A technician would need at least half a day to fix the computer, and he can get it done in just 10 minutes!”

A relieved smile appeared on Nian Feiyuan’s face as well. Just when he was about to go back on the stage, he saw that Raptor’s face turned even paler.

Before he could ask anything, the blue screen started to blink nonstop.

It seemed like the problem had gotten worse.

What the hell?

Seeing the situation, Director Liu picked up the microphone and shouted, “Fu Zhi, Fu Zhi! Come over here and take a look at the computer! It’s almost recess time and we have to finish the class as soon as possible!”

Lu Yumo lamented, “This Xiao Liu. When he’s calling you, he looks like a baby bird looking for its mother.”

Fu Zhi did not know what to comment on.

She rose to her feet and went to the stage.

Raptor was still fighting with the firewall that she installed on the computer.

His face was green with anxiety and there were beads of sweat on his forehead.

Fu Zhi put the phone on the table, raised her brow, and said, “Step aside, please. You’re wasting my time.”

She looked at her watch and there were another 15 minutes before the class ended.

As if she had heard some kind of joke, Ouyang Ya sneered, “He’s wasting your time? Fu Zhi, do you know what you’re talking about? If you don’t know, step aside!”

“10 minutes is up,” Fu Zhi looked at Raptor indifferently, “Ouyang Ya ask you to step aside if you don’t know how to fix the computer.”

Raptor was stunned.

‘I don’t know how to fix the computer?!’

Raptor had never been humiliated like this before… Well, that’s not true.

In fact, the Hacker Alliance was differentiated into different levels as well. For instance, Siren was at the highest level. She did not care about the rest of the members and she often felt they were a bunch of simpletons.

But who was Fu Zhi?

How dare she say he did not know how to fix the computer? Did she think she could crack the firewall that even he couldn’t do it?

Raptor wanted to talk back to her, but a voice inside of him told him that he should not. Instead, he should let Fu Zhi fall down first, only then she knew her own level.

Besides, now that he could not fix the computer, he needed someone to help him take the blame.

With that thought in mind, Raptor stepped aside.

Fu Zhi took over the keyboard and began typing away.

Raptor looked at her with contempt while the students still did not know what was going on.

They did not know why their Sister Zhi would suddenly go on to the stage and begin fixing the computer.

Fu Zhi’s fingers were dancing nimbly on the keyboard, and the screen that was blinking madly a few seconds ago was slowly calming down.

After a few pages of white letters scrolled over, the homepage appeared.

“Wow!”

Everyone in the hall gasped in surprise.

“Is Fu Zhi a computer technician?”

“Or perhaps she’s a software engineer!”

“Awesome!”

They did not know what was happening, but Raptor knew. His eyes grew so big that it seemed they were going to fall out from the sockets when Fu Zhi used the firewall in the computer to delete the last batch of viruses.

Her skills were great and she had a vast knowledge of the computer system. Raptor had no idea why but she reminded him of someone from the Hacker Alliance.

After seeing that the computer had become normal again, Xiao Liu went up to Fu Zhi and asked, “How is it? Have you fixed the computer?”

“Nope, not yet. You haven’t paid me yet, so I only make it usable for a short while,” Fu Zhi said, “If you want me to fix it, you have to pay me.”

Director Liu was speechless.

“Considering our relationship, can’t you…”

“Cannot. I’m not trying to hurt your feelings, but we are not so close yet.”

Fu Zhi squatted down to look at the CPU, “Don’t forget to upgrade the CPU at the store later. You have to change the hardware too, or else it’s too hard to use.”

Fu Zhi took her phone and went back to her seat.

Ouyang Ya was stunned.

Raptor did everything he could, but he could not fix the computer, while Fu Zhi just typed a few codes and the computer was fixed?!
