Chapter 74 - Auction
Chapter 74: Auction
After their meal, they went to the auction house.
The uncle had changed into inconspicuous clothing, but he still wore a hat.
Although he was fifty, he still looked young, and he was reserved and gentlemanly.
This auction was very big. Everyone who could enter certainly had quite a lot of capital.
Today’s auction was a charity auction, so there were many people there. Many reporters attended as well.
Xing Jiuan and her uncle had also been photographed. However, as the two of them were not famous and were not well-known wealthy people in Country Hua, they still managed to keep a low profile even if they attracted some attention with their looks and temperament.
“You don’t like to be photographed?” the uncle asked softly.
Xing Jiuan was only staring at one spot and her gaze was a little cold.
She shook her head when she heard this. “No. Let’s go in.”
The uncle looked at the person Xing Jiuan had noticed. He was a young man from Country Hua. He was also good-looking, but he couldn’t be considered very good-looking either. It was impossible for Xing Jiuan to have stared at him for so long unless they already knew each other.
He didn’t care much and entered the auction hall with Xing Jiuan.
The two of them were seated in the VIP seats in the front row of the large hall. Uncle Wang followed them in while the bodyguard and chauffeur waited outside.
As soon as they sat down, someone came over. Uncle Wang stood up and said that Old Master and Young Miss did not want to be disturbed. Then, that person left regretfully.
“I said that I’ll accompany you. I won’t discuss any business matters.” Uncle smiled at Xing Jiuan.
Xing Jiuan smiled back. “Uncle’s arrival is too high-profile.”
These VIP seats could only have been obtained if he had mentioned his identity. Otherwise, he could only have gotten ordinary seats.
“I had no choice. It’s more comfortable here.”
The auction soon began. The two of them chatted occasionally, but not much.
Xing Jiuan was not interested in many of the items, but her uncle seemed to be very interested.
He went on with the bidding happily.
They kept bidding so many times, and it seemed like they were not worried about money at all. Hundreds of millions were casually thrown out just like that. The auction was only halfway through, and almost ten items had already been bought.
Xing Jiuan only watched on. When she realized that someone’s gaze was locked on her, she immediately looked over.
It was that man.
Xing Jiuan would never forget that face.
After all, her death had been caused by that person.
He was wearing a silver-gray suit and wasn’t sitting far from her. When he saw Xing Jiuan looking over, he didn’t feel awkward about being caught peeking. Instead, he smiled at Xing Jiuan in a friendly manner.
His appearance could not be said to be bad. He did not look as gloomy as in her previous life. He even looked a little gentle.
Xing Jiuan almost couldn’t control her anger.
Sooner or later, she would make this man pay for everything he had done.
She turned back around and no longer looked at him.
Some reporters captured this scene, but Xing Jiuan hid her eyes very well. She was also wearing a hat, so only her nose and chin could be seen. She looked exquisite and beautiful.
They had acquired many things at this auction. Many reporters had taken photos, but the two of them did not care.
Of course, if they cared, none of these photos would be published.
Her uncle’s authority was not in Country Hua, but he still had some power here. There were some things that he could handle easily.
As for Xing Jiuan, it went without saying.
Xing Jiuan was not interested in anything here. However, her uncle had bought a lot of calligraphy paintings, jades, diamonds, and a few antiques.
At the end of the auction, they were about to get up to get their items when some people came over.
“Hello, Mr. Gein. Can we talk?”
Xing Jiuan did not move.
Uncle Gein’s lips curved. “Mister, I came here only to buy some things.”
