Chapter 101: Concert

Naturally, Yun Xiangxiang was oblivious to the thoughts of Song Mian and his servant.
She was now at the live stage of the concert; observing Xue Yu who was onstage. His voice was very distinct.
His voice could be as gentle as water, as ancient as time, and even as energetic as the spirit of youth.
War drums shook, rainbows pierce the sun, the bones pile up
The world crushed, a storm is coming, messing everything up
Tears shed, down the woman’s rouge
In the desert the man alone stood up, enduring years of the wintry gale
Standing in uniform with rice wine in hand
The three armies laughed, on the battlefield silence echoed
Who would be the hero
...
This song “Who is The Hero” was written and composed by Xue Yu for a film he played in himself.
The climax was right in the opening verse. The energy started high and became low; from passion to gentleness. His singing had beautifully portrayed both the kindness of a battle hardened man and the sorrow of the warriors at the border.
The verse ‘Who would be the hero’ could really make those who cried easily weep.
Yun Xiangxiang enjoyed it immensely. She unconsciously started to sing along with Xue Yu’s tempo.
The song flew by. When it ended, the live scene was deathly silent. Shrill screams and shouts burst forth a second after that.
The concert was reaching its climax. The next song would be “Black Swan’s Poem.”
Xue Yu and He Wei placed this song in the best time slot after going out of their way to negotiate with every party.
At this moment, the concert’s excitement was at its highest because of “Who Is The Hero”. The fans were now whipped into a frenzy.
“It’s not fun singing by myself,” Xue Yu’s voice boomed on the stage. “I even invited a special guest who has the voice of heaven today to help me out! You guys know who she is, yeah? Come, let’s shout her name out!
“Yun Xiangxiang! Yun Xiangxiang! Yun Xiangxiang...”
Yun Xiangxiang felt inexplicably happy about being anticipated by the crowd when the waves of screams reached her.
“Alright, up next, I’ll present ‘Black Swan’s Poem’ to you along with my junior.”
The lights on the stage completely went out amidst the cheers, screams, and applause. Yun Xiangxiang seized this chance to take to the stage and posed at the designated spot. The elegant voice of the piano played first.
A beam of light shone upon Yun Xiangxiang. She was wearing a black leotard. She started dancing to Xue Yu’s piano’s tune.
Her hands stretched and changed softly, slowly, elegantly.
After she made a pose of having her wings spread out against the wind, Xue Yu’s voice sang:
Beauteous angel that fell from grace
No one could see through her arabesque
There is no judgment too harsh to overcome
She will fade to none
The stage that was stained, by her blood and tears
...
Yun Xiangxiang followed closely with an elegant pirouette. Her gaze just happened to cross with the audience’s. It was abyssal and stubborn. She took over the song:
The angel who broke, both of their wings
Please recall what she was called
Blossom in full, youthful stubbornness
Please fix your gaze and remember how she looked
Black and white entwine
...
Yun Xiangxiang’s opening drew a huge wave of screams.
She applied a heavier stage makeup today. Her eyeliner was exceptionally thick; the silver eyeshadow glimmered under the fluorescent lights.
The corner of her left eye was decorated with black swan’s feathers. Its edges were adorned with a few rhinestones. The pair of clear, unreal eyes under the spotlight was stoic and unyielding.
As she danced gracefully, it was as if the song was about a girl that was persistent and never giving up just like her.
She was like the emotions that the song was trying to articulate. She used all her energy to release an exquisiteness as gorgeous as life to hold on to her dreams.
She believed that she could wait for the light of dawn to arrive after the darkest night.
The song was obviously miserable, but it got the listeners inspired. They wanted to scream crazily.
They finally sang together.
The black swan’s poem, most gorgeous of persistence (dream’s spread of wings)
Most of the audience gave a fierce standing ovation after the song ended. The thunderous applause flooded the whole concert venue.
Those who could only watch the live stream because they couldn’t get the tickets also howled.
[Ah...! My goddess’s singing is making me fired up]
[I’ll run twenty laps around the field to calm down]
[Why am I crying just listening to this?]
[I recorded it. Time to set it as various ringtones.]
At this moment in the Song Family’s residence, Song An handed a handkerchief to the master.
Master Song took it to wipe his tears, “How much hardship do you think that this young lady had to endure to be able to sing so woefully?”
Song An couldn’t take it from there. He investigated Yun Xiangxiang thoroughly. Even though she wasn’t exactly a daughter of a rich man, her family was simple and happy. Her parents were liberal and loving. It also baffled him as to how she could sing with such emotion.
The master also knew about Yun Xiangxiang’s life; he still couldn’t help but shed tears.
Song An couldn’t help but sigh. Sure enough, you couldn’t touch someone’s loved one. All it took was a bit of discrepancy, and they would spoil them like nobody’s business.
“Ouch, my chest hurts,” Master Song leaned back and thumped his chest with his fist.
The edge of Song An’s lips twitched. He still took his phone out to call Song Mian. The phone was handed over to the master after Song Mian accepted the call.
“Father?” Song Mian’s voice rang out.
“My chest hurts,” Master Song spoke forthrightly.
Song Mian: ...
How could he not know about his father’s body? He was so healthy, he needed to detoxify through bloodletting therapy. All these years of growing up, he had never seen his father falling sick. Now his chest hurt out of the blue. Something fishy must be going on behind this unusual situation.
The Song Family had a lot of doctors. If it was a true emergency, he wouldn’t even have the leeway to call him. He sounded like he was making a fuss out of nothing.
“You unfilial son. My chest hurts, you hear me?” Master Song said angrily when he didn’t hear any reply from his son for a while.
“So? Then?” Song Mian’s tone was calm.
The master was so furious, he jumped up from his seat and paced the house, “I knew that having a son is useless. You aren’t considerate at all. If I had a daughter, she would have worried about me!”
Song Mian unexpectedly answered, “I don’t mind having a younger sister, father. It’s still not too late now.”
“You little...” Master Song was so incensed, his face turned blue. He threw the phone across the room.
Song An reacted swiftly. He pounced and caught the phone in his hand, then took it to a corner and said to Song Mian, “Young master, the master watched Miss Yun’s concert just now. He’s wondering when you would invite her to our home again.”
“I have a few more patients left here...”
“Nobody wants you back here!” Master Song snatched the phone and cut him off indignantly. “You don’t need to come back. Just make a call and say you’re not at home all year long. Just have the young lady visit me for yo...beep beep beep”
The line became busy when Master Song didn’t even finish what he had to say.
Master Song widened his eyes. He grumbled at Song An, “Look at this! Look at this! What’s the point of raising a brat?”
Song An recalled his son that followed the young master since he was little. The son that talked about providing for him even in his sleep after the young master took over. He nodded in understanding.
Sons are the most despised creatures on earth.
“Master, do you need me to call Miss Yun? Song An enquired.
Master Song’s expression returned to normal. He waved his hand, “Don’t scare the young lady. I don’t want that brat to lose his wife. He would have an excuse to blame it on me.”
True, he wanted to meet that adorable young lady, but he wouldn’t bypass his son. Even though that brat was unfilial, he was still a competent father.
