Chapter 142 - My Fiancee

Chapter 142: My Fiancee

Yun Xiangxiang still gazed at him calmly even when he was standing in front of Yun Xiangxiang.

“Uncle!” Doris rushed over and clasped the man intimately.

The man looked at his niece. He then looked at Yun Xiangxiang. He extended his hand, “Lucifer.”

He didn’t announce his last name. He only said his first. Yun Xiangxiang extended her hand politely, “Hello.”

Yun Xiangxiang didn’t even want to announce her name.

He didn’t mind either. Instead he spoke earnestly, “I sincerely apologize for Doris’ offensive behavior earlier.”

“Uncle,” Doris looked at Lucifer in horror.

“Doris, if your father knows that you were this rude, I think that he will be quite sad,” Lucifer chided Doris.

Lucifer only threw her a glance, and the arrogant Doris became as obedient as a quail.

Perhaps it was on purpose or coincidence, the great hall played some dance music and regulated the atmosphere at once.

Lucifer extended his hand gentlemanly, “Beautiful Oriental angel, do I have the honor of this dance?”

Yun Xiangxiang heard someone gasping over the music. She could guess how noble this Lucifer was.

Yun Xiangxiang smiled politely. Just as she was going to decline, a familiar voice said from behind her, “I’m very sorry, Mr. Lucifer. She’s my dance partner.”

Yun Xiangxiang turned around in surprise and was greeted by the pair of mesmerizing purple eyes that were smiling. She walked over to him without any hesitation.

“Why are you here?” Yun Xiangxiang asked him as if nobody was around.

This was the first time Yun Xiangxiang saw Song Mian in a tuxedo. He was different from Lucifer’s oppressiveness. Song Mian who was wearing a pure ivory tuxedo that had dark grayish green gold threads at the seams. It was so noble that it could make people gasp.

“I was already invited in the first place.” Song Mian held her hand and walked over to stand in front of Lucifer.

Yun Xiangxiang noticed the handkerchief that showed itself on the tuxedo’s collar. The pattern was actually peacock plumes. The smile in her eyes overflowed.

“It has been a while, King.” Lucifer greeted him.

“I thought we just met a month ago.” What Song Mian said had a deeper meaning behind it.

“Really? I heard that you were in Africa a month ago, but I was in Australia.” Lucifer replied.

“Perhaps I recognized the wrong person. Mr. Lucifer may not be the ambusher.” Song Mian nodded slightly.

Lucifer smiled but did not continue. His gaze swam back and forth on both of them, “You two seem to have quite the close relationship.”

“Allow me to introduce her formerly. She is my fiancee,” Song Mian raised his hand which was holding Yun Xiangxiang’s.

“It seems like Doris must be disciplined. As my show of apology, I wish to invite both of you to my home as guests,” said Lucifer.

“Sorry, we don’t have time,” Song Mian said curtly before taking Yun Xiangxiang to the dance floor.

It was fortunate that Yun Xiangxiang did a decent job in learning the social dance in her previous life. Song Mian didn’t even ask her whether she knew how to dance. He wasn’t worried that it would be embarrassing.

“You’re smart. Even if you don’t know how to dance, you can do it if I teach you on the spot.” Song Mian seemed to see through what she was thinking.

Yun Xiangxiang closed in and whispered, “Why did you tell everyone that I am your fiance?!

A girlfriend and a fiancee were two different things, okay?

“You’re in too much danger now. You can only be safe if you become my wife.” Song Mian supported her waist and made a spin.

He wouldn’t tell Yun Xiangxiang that being a girlfriend wasn’t formal enough. The people on their level had a tacit understanding that girlfriends were toys that could be swapped at any time.

He didn’t explain because he didn’t want Yun Xiangxiang to think that he was as rotten as they were.

“You can go on and say that I’m your wife then,” Yun Xiangxiang glared at Song Mian.

“I will be more than happy to if it’s possible,” Song Mian answered with an expectant face.

Yun Xiangxiang didn’t talk to him, instead she lowered her eyes.

“Don’t worry. This is a highly confidential dinner. Whatever happens here won’t be spread,” Song Mian explained. “Half of the people here don’t know me. The ones who do won’t get involved in your circle.

“Do you think that I am upset about this?” Yun Xiangxiang glanced at him. “You didn’t even tell me when you were coming in the first place.

Even the figure of a reporter couldn’t be found here. Yun Xiangxiang naturally knew about this. She didn’t need Song Mian to explain it to her.

“I’m sorry, my girlfriend.” Song Mian coaxed her patiently. “I wanted to surprise you at first. In the end, you got frightened because I was a step too late.”

“I wasn’t frightened. Do I look like someone who is easily bullied?” Yun Xiangxiang harrumphed softly.

“Yes, yes, yes. My girlfriend must only be someone that can bully everyone else.” Song Mian nodded in agreement. His tone was full of mollycoddling.

“Who is that Lucifer? I feel that he is incredibly hostile toward you,” It was especially obvious through what they said just now.

“He’s a foe, not a friend,” Song Mian only gave a six word reply. “He’s half-blood, the same as me.

“Ah?” Yun Xiangxiang was surprised. Lucifer looked like a pure foreigner.

“His father is the boss of a mysterious family. His mother is Chinese,” Song Mian explained.

“It seems that the genes from his father’s side are stronger,” Yun Xiangxiang concluded.

Song Mian’s mother was a foreigner. That was why his pair of eyes inherited the European bloodline. His features were also slightly more distinct. However, there was still a considerable difference between him and a pure European.

If Song Mian didn’t say, Yun Xiangxiang couldn’t even notice the Eastern genes in Lucifer.

“Does that mean our future children will be more like me?” Song Mian wouldn’t let any chance to tease Yun Xiangxiang escape.

“Tsk,” Yun Xiangxiang’s face became scalding hot. She used their switch of position to step on Song Mian’s feet mercilessly.

Yun Xiangxiang simply shut up when she couldn’t win against Song Mian. Song Mian took her to grab a bite after a dance ended. He smartly evaded everyone that wanted to see him.

The auction started about an hour later. They were guided to another hall. Yun Xiangxiang only saw the dinner’s pioneer then.

He stood on the stage and gave his opening speech. He was so great with his words, he wouldn’t lose out to any professional host.

The auction officially started. Yun Xiangxiang was a spectator all the way through. However, she wasn’t lonely. There were delicious cakes on the table.

She focused on eating until she heard the auction item that she donated. The base price was five thousand dollars.

“Ten thousand,” Austin was the first bidder

“Twenty thousand,” Wilson was the second bidder

Yun Xiangxiang still focused on eating her food when another voice announced, “One million.”

Yun Xiangxiang suddenly choked on her food. She probably would make a mess out of herself if the cake wasn’t soft. She took a glass of grape wine and drank from it.

“Mr. Lucifer offers one million. Is there anyone higher than that?”

Yun Xiangxiang grabbed Song Mian when she saw him trying to raise his hand, “He’s a rich fool. Do you want to be like him?”

It was a matter of pride in the first place. Money wasn’t a thing when it came to Song Mian and Lucifer’s net worth.

However, Song Mian actually retreated when Yun Xiangxiang said that.

Yun Xiangxiang nodded with satisfaction, “That’s right. You don’t need to fight with a fool.”
