Chapter 170 - Hacking the Phone

[Brother Wei, send me Chen Junjie’s number.]

Huan Yu Century Entertainment might be rivals with The Era of Stars, but there would be times when they collaborate. He Wei must have Chen Junjie’s number.

She only needed that number to access all the data in Chen Junjie’s phone.

Smartphones are just mini computers. Compared to a full fledged PC, most people knew next to nothing about phone security.

It was easier to hack into a phone than a PC because of that.

Someone like Chen Junjie would probably have a system setting that warned him about infiltration. She was not good enough to hack into his PC yet.

Although she had only learned about computers for one semester, she had Ai Li and Song Mian with her. Textbook knowledge could never satisfy her.

There was a part of her that wanted to challenge herself when she chose to undertake a major in computers. A larger part of it was for her career.

She wanted to know who would have the gall to hack her. She was not some bigwig, nor did she possess any top secret files. True experts wouldn’t waste their time on her. Only those keyboard warriors hiding behind the screens would find bother trouble with her with their subpar skills

No matter who dared to hack her, she would dig them up no matter where they were!

[18*********. What do you want to do with that?]

He Wei might have received training for special agents, but not all special agents would be involved in the field of computers. He Wei was not expecting Yun Xiangxiang to hack Chen Junjie’s phone. He only thought she was going to roast Chen Junjie herself.

[I warned Qin Yue to not pull this kind of stunt anymore after the matter with my nightgown. I told her not to waste her time on me. Perhaps she thought that I was just bluffing. I have ignored her for too long, now is the time for me to give her some payback]

Qin Yue’s audacity to be so arrogant must be backed by Chen Junjie. She would not believe it otherwise. Someone like Chen Junjie would never be so agreeable if Qin Yue did not show some generosity.

Chen Junjie was already used to the status of a high and mighty young master. Even if Qin Yue was different from Chen Junjie’s past women, occasionally letting Qin Yue play hard to get was his way of fun. It was impossible for him to keep on spoiling her.

Song Mian once told her that there was no foolproof system for a true master of computers.

She suddenly had the idea to experiment with a phone when she was learning with Song Mian. Through that, she discovered the loophole in the Signalling System No. 7 (SS7).

She even tested it furtively. People would usually subconsciously overlook their phones. There were not many people who knew about this loophole.

SS7 was a crucial global network that connected mobile communications providers.

Every mobile phone user would need to call or send SMS through SS7.

As her slender fingertips ran over the keyboard, Yun Xiangxiang easily acquired all the data in Chen Junjie’s phone through the safety loophole.

Yun Xiangxiang found nothing in Chen Junjie’s phone even after going through it for a while. She was not trying to get her hands on any secrets. She only wanted to extract some news between him and Qin Yue.

I want to help Qin Yue get herself into the headlines of the entertainment section. I am so understanding.

Chen Junjie and Qin Yue used next to no instant messaging. The occasional communication they would share was nothing out of the ordinary too. The most was Chen Junjie calling Qin Yue ‘babe.’

However, her hard work paid off in the end. Chen Junjie’s WeChat was bound to his phone number.

“Big news...,” Yun Xiangxiang took a sip of water before picking up her phone to call He Wei. “Brother Wei, do you have any media friends who are not afraid of The Era of Stars?”

Yun Xiangxiang did not want the news she sent to be heard by The Era of Stars and suppressed before it made it into the news.

“What did you just do?” He Wei’s instinct was telling him something bad was going to happen.

“I just got a deeper understanding about the General Manager of The Era of Stars,” Yun Xiangxiang answered with a smile. “And I managed to dig up some news.”

“Send them to me. I’ll deal with it,” He Wei shook his head resignedly. “Remember to wipe your tracks.”

“Relax, I am sure I left nothing for them,” Yun Xiangxiang guaranteed.

Song Mian’s first lesson for her was not tracking or attacking any system. It was how to hide and protect herself.

Yun Xiangxiang sent all the files she extracted to He Wei. The files had bold content. She asked He Wei to skip out on watching the videos.

She was getting ready to wash up and sleep after she had sent those files when her phone rang. It was Song Mian.

“I went to the mountains in the morning. There wasn’t any signal there. I just found out about the matter online,” Song Mian apologized.

Yun Xiangxiang laughed, “Why? Because you didn’t manage to find out in time and back me up?”

“En,” Song Mian replied softly.

“Boyfriend, I would have sought out your help if I couldn’t handle this,” Yun Xiangxiang replied seriously.

Everyone’s expectations for love was different. Some wanted their significant other to support their lives, so they did not need to worry about anything.

Yun Xiangxiang eschewed such a form of love. She wanted to handle her own matters by herself.

She was reluctant to even ask for He Wei’s help whenever there was a flame war online, let alone Song Mian’s help.

She did not want to be someone who was dependent on anyone, even if she believed Song Mian would never leave her.

Even so, Song Mian was busy enough as it was. As his current girlfriend or potentially future wife, it was acceptable if she could not ease some of his burden. However, she could never add to his plate.

“Alright then,” Song Mian chuckled

“Have you eaten your lunch?” Bhutan had a few hours of difference in time with China. It should be noon now.

“Soon,” Song Mian answered. “I’ll be inside the mountain woods for the next few days. I’ll set up a signal system at night. Just send anything you don’t understand to me. I’ll record and send you the answer process when I see it.”

“Okay,” Yun Xiangxiang told Song Mian about her earlier deed after she had replied. “I just used the things you taught me to...”

She only learned one semester about it. Even though it was child’s play to hack into a phone, most of it was taught by Song Mian. Not even the textbooks touched on them.

“Do you know why we do not use smartphones?” Song Mian asked Yun Xiangxiang after he had finished listening to her story.

“Why?” Yun Xiangxiang knew that Song Mian only downloaded WeChat to chat with her on his smartphone. He did not even bring it with him anywhere.

His phone for daily use was a high-end, custom made phone. It was not a smartphone.

“Smartphones are not safe,” Song Mian explained to Yun Xiangxiang. “I don’t even need its number. I only need this phone to be connected to cellular data or WiFi, and I can acquire all data about this phone.”

Yun Xiangxiang’s eyes widened. She was utterly shocked. She was embarrassed when she thought about her little trick.

What Song Mian said next nearly made Yun Xiangxiang throw the smartphone she was holding away.

“If this phone’s front camera is clear, I can use it to monitor each and every move of that mobile user.”

Yun Xiangxiang looked at her phone silently. She felt that it had already become a CCTV.

Knowing Yun Xiangxiang’s thoughts, Song Mian chuckled deeply, “I will never violate your privacy.”
