Chapter 247 - A Different Kind of Delicious

Chapter 247: A Different Kind of Delicious

He Xingzhou desired it, and Sun Qiluo envied her.

When the aroma of the wild mushroom soup wafted through the hall. He Xingzhou’s stomach was rumbling.

“Where’s our food?” He Xingzhou looked at Yun Xiangxiang.

The waitstaff came in again, bringing covered plates with them. They placed them on He Xingzhou’s and Sun Qiluo’s table.

The waiter revealed the dinner of Sun Qiluo’s team. It was a dinner with four dishes and a bowl of soup. Sun Qiluo immediately exclaimed, “Wow!”

“I remember Sister Qiluo mentioning her wish to have a beautiful meal,” Yun Xiangxiang smiled at Sun Qiluo.

She ordered a feast of flowers for Sun Qiluo. As Yunnan was home to many flowers, their feast of flowers was famous too.

When she uploaded the feast she had in Song Manor, Sun Qiluo commented with a whole line of drooling emojis.

“You are my true sister. I love you, don’t ask why,” Sun Qiluo was touched.

“Come on, let’s look at ours,” He Xingzhou urged the waiter. His impatient look was adorable.

When Yun Xiangxiang gave her permission, they revealed the dishes which shocked He Xingzhou.

“Yun Xiangxiang, you’re murdering your own husband,” He Xingzhou hid beside Lu Jin. He stared at the dishes in disbelief.

“Pfft hahahaha...,” Sun Qiluo and Hou Cang guffawed. They didn’t care how they looked.

Yun Xiangxiang tried her best to hold it down, “My dear, you asked me to order the most special, the most nutritious food. These bugs are great stuff.”

Yun Xiangxiang ordered Yunnan’s most famous Feast of a Hundred Bugs for Lu Jin and He Xingzhou. All the plates were filled with fried bugs, and their aroma wafted throughout the hall.

There were fried bee pupae, fried bamboo worms, fried cicadas...

“Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. I finally know why my country was destroyed, and why you died early. We married her, that’s why,” He Xingzhou looked tortured.

“My dear marquis of Xi, what were you saying?” Yun Xiangxiang gave him a sinister smile.

“I said that you are evil! We used to be husband and wife, how can you do this to me?” He Xingzhou didn’t care anymore.

Yun Xiangxiang turned aside to ask Shen Yitang. “Brother Shen, can I add a few more dishes for them? They have fried scorpions, fried centipedes, fried cockroaches, fried spiders...oh, I think they also have baby rats...”

“My wife is the world’s prettiest, gentlest, kindest, most elegant, most knowledgeable, most...,” He Xingzhou praised through his sobs.

Hou Cang and Sun Qiluo’s stomachs hurt from laughing too much. Shen Yitang couldn’t hold it in either. He turned to the side, and his shoulders were visibly shaking.

Only He Xingzhou looked tortured. Even the waitstaff laughed.

Lu Jin, however, was calm. He grabbed one bamboo worm with his chopsticks and ate it. “En, not bad.”

He Xingzhou looked at him like he was crazy. He wouldn’t eat those things even if it was the last thing he did. He was already imagining countless disgusting scenes in his mind.

“Are my mushrooms done?” Yun Xiangxiang asked the waitstaff standing beside her.

Cooking mushrooms took some skills. The sequence and the cooking time must be in order, or else the diner might be poisoned.

The waiter raised his wrist. When he confirmed that the mushroom was fit for consumption, he filled a bowl with it before giving it to Yun Xiangxiang.

“Please give all of them a bowl of this,” said Yun Xiangxiang.

She wasn’t going to eat all of that alone. The bug feast was just to tease He Xingzhou. Besides, they only had fried food there.

He Xingzhou finally had some color return to his face. He didn’t want to look at the things on his table and lowered his head to focus on the mushrooms.

“These are good stuff,” Hou Cang came over and switched places with him.

Sun Qiluo also gave everyone some of her flower feast. Shen Yitang could take the bug feast Yun Xiangxiang ordered.

He helped them clear the dishes. Even Yun Xiangxiang and Sun Qiluo chipped in. Only He Xingzhou refused. He couldn’t eat it no matter what. Yun Xiangxiang didn’t ask him further.

The dinner’s conclusion marked the end of the day’s recording. They would be parting with the program team on the next day

As they would be broadcasting first, they needed to pick up the pace with the editing. Under normal circumstances, they wouldn’t broadcast the episode that was filmed this week.

Variety shows would usually record numerous episodes before airing them the next month. This was done in case something happened to the actors in some filmed episodes which would make it impossible to air.

This way, they would have enough time to redo the editing and air the backup episode in that week.

The episode of “The King’s Plan” was an exception. If the program team didn’t promise to air the episode before the film was taken down, Wu Zhao wouldn’t agree to the recording.

They took a step back and got a win-win situation. Both sides needed to be happy in a collaboration.

At the end of a pleasant day, Yun Xiangxiang was awash with exhaustion after she came back to the hotel. It was more tiring than filming.

“I didn’t know Yunnan had so many good foods,” a happy Wei Shanshan followed Yun Xiangxiang.

She went to the dinner earlier too, appearing after the recording stopped. The cameraman wouldn’t record Yun Xiangxiang and the others eating.

“You want to bathe first, or should I go first?” Yun Xiangxiang asked.

“You rest for a second. I’ll go first,” Wei Shanshan said to the exhausted Yun Xiangxiang.

She had an off day today. Except for coming over to have a couple of meals, she didn’t move around a lot.

Yun Xiangxiang nodded before sitting on the sofa. She disliked laying on the bed when she was sweaty or had dust on her.

She turned on her phone and video called Song Mian to tell him about everything that happened today.

Song Mian listened to her intently. When he saw how bright she shone and how sprightly she was, he felt happy too.

“I’m going back to Shanghai for filming soon. When are you coming back?” Yun Xiangxiang asked.

“Not so soon,” Song Mian felt guilty. As their fields were different, they couldn’t spend much time together.

“Don’t give me that look,” Yun Xiangxiang touched the screen. “Even normal couples have to go their separate ways for work in the day. Sometimes they can’t even share a sentence between them the whole day. And they live under the same roof. We are already blessed.”

In the real world, no couple would stick to each other all day. Unless they were rich kids who had no worries in life.

Those were the unicorns of life. Even those people couldn’t run away from their responsibilities their whole life and shirk it all to their parents.

They would be separated for long periods, but the same would go to the time they spent together.

She also had her own work to do. If Song Mian were to return, she would be the one feeling guilty.

“Don’t work overtime. Don’t exhaust yourself. Just stick with your plan. I’ll be doing my work as I await your return,” Yun Xiangxiang reminded gently.

She checked the calendar and found out that the Chinese calendar’s Sixth of June was in late June instead of early July like she thought.

She wouldn’t be facing her finals when that time would swing around. “Jiu Se” should have finished its filming too. Why don’t I fly over there to meet up with him?

When she was in Milan, he could even cross the continent just to celebrate her birthday. She could also do the same thing for him.
